When do we stop gaining weight?

I read somewhere that weight gain usually tapers off after 36 weeks??? Is this true?? I am packing on the pounds like crazy and am hoping there is an end in sight soon. I've gained about 24 lbs and I am 28 weeks...

Had a Dr appt today, I am 35 wks a 3 days, gained 2 lbs since last visit, when I was 34 wks exactly.

We'll see. My next "weigh in" is on the 17th

You definitely slow down in the end. By 34-35 weeks, I had almost stopped, and I think I actually lost a few lbs.

I at pretty healthy throughout my pregnancy but in the last month I actually stopped eating healthy and could no longer resist chocalate and cookies and cake. Somehow in that month I did not gain any weight.

Alicia, I'm right there with you...I'll be 28 wks tomorrow & I've gained 26lbs.

Funny, at my 36 week appointment I gained 6 lbs in 3 weeks, FINALLY bringing me to gain a total of 3lb this whole pregnancy.....but my dr also thinks I didn't really gain that much weight, that it was water weight. I keep getting told to gain more tho.

WHY am I always the opposite??

I topped out at my highest weight at 38 weeks and then lost a few

Not that I want to keep gaining, but I think my Dr. would like me to gain until the end. I've only gained 15 pounds and I'm 29 weeks (and I didn't have morning sickness, the weight just isn't adding up yet!), so I'm sure he'd like me to gain another 10 probably.

My doctor told me from the beginning that it is different for everyone..some people gain most of the weight in the beginning and some at the end. I gained most of mine in the middle.

I was diagnosed with dg at 28 weeks and had to go on the gd diet.

I stopped gaining almost completely at that point.

I went for my 36 week appt and I lost one pound!

i went to the doctors two weeks ago and i gained a total of 18 pounds but i think i gained two more since then. I am 28 weeks tomorrow.

I'm 35 weeks and the doctor told me the weight gain would definitely slow from this point on.

I've gained 40 pounds to date.

Hmmm, I'm 39 weeks and still gaining....

i was reading in the what to expect - its the last couple of weeks? you look great and are all belly - don't worry

At 36wks I gained total 25pds but doc told me I may gain another 5 till due date and baby would be at least 2pds of it.

So..I guess I wont stop gaining weight

I just asked that question since I gained 20 Lbs at 28 wks. I had read that you gain about another 10 Lbs.

Dr. said it was not necessarily true. Some people don't gain that much in the last trimester.

I only gained about 8 lbs throughout the entire pregnancy, I kept gaining and losing here and there, but in the last 2 weeks (37 & 38) I gained more weight
