The Tudors on Showtime in Demand

If you have Showtime on Demand you can watch the first two episodes. I watched the first one and thought it was pretty good so far...I never thought Jonathan Rhys Meyers was anything special, but something about him in the role...he's pretty hot!! Chat Icon

I think its also online and you can watch it and make your decision. I thought it was good, but I only saw one episode, so I don't want to steer you either way...Chat Icon It was good but I don't know if it's $10 a month extra good!! Chat Icon

LOL - I'm really excited for it too! Luckily it starts next week Chat Icon

I never thought anything of JRM - he looks very effeminate to me (and that came out in that one scene in the preview that shows him running Chat Icon) but otherwise, he looks pretty hot in this.

I'm a litle perturbed that they're messing with the timeline of Henry the VIII's life. The time he was with Anne Boleyn he was not this strapping, young man - he was in his 40s (which was pretty old back then) just ~10 years before his death.

Well, him and Anne began whatever their relationship was-- like 6 years before they were even married. I believe it was during this time that he started to deteriorate. And he was pretty "godly" up til his late 30's or so-- I think he was on a downward spiral and got worse pretty quickly-- syphilis will do that to you I guess.

And JRM-- yes please!!!! Chat Icon

Syphilis? I thought it was just from that horse injury to his leg......

OK, so he was ~36 when they started their affair...and JRM is almost 30...I guess. I just don't see it based on photos I've seen of Henry VIII Chat Icon

He was very charismatic and handsome... He was like the Brad Pitt of his day-- women everywhere swooned for him, etc. He was extremely tall- and towered over everyone. He just had presence.

I think the thing on his leg was all tied into the disgusting diseases that he had-- I am sure he must have had gout too--

Yes...and I still don't see it Chat Icon JRM is under 6'...not to mention a brunette! LOL

I just hope they stick to history and don't make it loosely based and all about sex. (Forgive me, I've been on a Tudor kick for some time now - mostly b/c of Elizabeth I - so I'm probably looking too far into it Chat Icon )

Me too-- Henry was all about sex!!

Anyway-- I saw a first look about it-- and while he is not "conventionally Henry"-- it's about him capturing the essence of him... not necessarily looking like him.

After reading The Other Boleyn Girl as well as a few of the other books, I cannot wait to see the show, we got Showtime because of it.

I think JRM will be good in the show, but I cannot wait to see Eric Bana as Henry the VIII in the Bolyen Girl movie..THAT's how I'd picture Henry, yummy.....Chat Icon
