Anyone skipping Lamaze?
My friend who delivered at Good Sam about a year or so ago said the class there was basically worthless and that the nurse in the delivery room taught her while she was in labor. I want to just "wing it", I feel like nature will take its course as far as breathing. Anyone agree?

I am on the fence about this as well.
Diane I just wanted to let you know my sister delivered 3 babies at Good Sam and loved them.

Re: Anyone skipping Lamaze?
We went when I was PG with my son it was part of a one day class at my OBs office. To be honest it was a waste.
I had a c-section but the amount of time we spent on it in that one day wasn't enough to really teach me anything.

first of all, there is no way i am going to remember lamaze breathing when i'm in the pain of labor. and i have a feeling that anyone reminding me how to breathe while i am in the worst pain of my life will be at serious risk for bodily harm...
so i am winging it!

I am skipping it to since I am a labor and delivery rm nurse, and the nurses do teach you.

I never took it. I bought the Bradley book and read it cover to cover TWICE.
That, and the epidural man

Re: Anyone skipping Lamaze?
You don't really need it. The nurse will show you exactly when and how to breath. You can also read up on it if you want.
I never took it the fist time and certianly won't need to take it this time.

I skipped it when I had my DS. The nurse talks you through it and it comes naturally.

We're skipping it. I'll let the nurses and doctors help me out, I'm sure I'd never remember what they told me at a class, anyway!

Re: Anyone skipping Lamaze?
Skipped it the first time and your friend is correct...the nurses will tell you what to do and how. I am not about to bother this time around either.

We are not doing it either. Our friends who took the class told us it was a waste. At the most, we should get the DVD but that's it.

Re: Anyone skipping Lamaze?
I will be skipping it this time but I highly suggest doing it the first time. DH and I had so much fun and it really brought up a lot of great feelings. We did a lot of couple work and the nurses who did it at Winthrop were great.
Just a suggestion

I have given birth 3 times w/out an epi or anything and can honestly say that the lamaze stuff went right out the window once I was in the labor room..
