Blasted
I have been away for the weekend and just saw all these comments directed to my statement last week. I did not mean people are staying to get welfare, I was saying that it is a shame some people chose not to leave their home -- who did not consider the risks that other people would take to try to rescue them. I am saddened and distraught over the whole incident as I go often to NOLA and love the people and the city. However, I am disturbed by the crime going on and the difficulties rescuers are having, and it makes me angry that these same brave people are in such danger, yet people need the help and can't receive it -- and yes I think in some cases people expect help, like people exepct welfare, and yet do not make an effort to make it easier -- shootong at the rescuers?? That is not helping anything.
I have friends from NOLA - my brother-in-law is from there and it hits very close to home and my heart goes out to all those affected. I have friends there as rescuers and yes I am ****** that they are in such danger. And yes we made a huge donation last Tuesday, I am doing volunteer work so please do not jump on me because you did not understand my comments.

I think everyone should have tried to get out. I think a lot of people wanted to be "taken care of" instead of taking care of themselves (welfare, anyone?).
what more is there to understand?????
