Has anyone dealt with gambling addictions?
A friend of ours had had a gambling problem awhile back. He lost a decent amount of money playing poker online. Since he realized he had a problem he totally swore off gambling, although I;'m not sure he truly realized the depth of a gambling addiciton and that it IS an addiction. I think he saw it more as "Well, so I'll stop playing poker cause I get in over my head"
Now, all of a sudden this guy, who had NO interest in or knowledge of sports knows all of these sports facts. My FH noticed it talking to him, he was spouting all kinds of stats, and this was a guy who really was not into sports.
Would you think this means he's gambling, betting on sports...or am I being totally paranoid?
Also, how does one deal with this? it' a very close friend

When my DH gambled on sports before we were married he knew every stat going. Sounds highly suspect to me.

Re: Has anyone dealt with gambling addictions?
I had an ex-boyfriend that would gamble on anything- casinos, sports- you name it
a bet's a bet- I think he is gambling again- and sports betting is really dangerous esp if he is using a bookie

It does seem rather suspicious especially considering he really wasn't that into sports. For him to know that many statistics...it just seems rather strange.

Re: Has anyone dealt with gambling addictions?
Fh sort of mentioned it to him like "wow, you know a lot of stats" and he said he hears it on 1010 wins driving to work every day. Is that possible?
It just seems fishy. I see sports stats in the paper, but I don't absorb them, because don't care.
This is someone who really is not into sports, maybe a little baseball
but the stats were about all sports, even college football

Re: Has anyone dealt with gambling addictions?
I have a family member that is addicted to gambling
They believe that b/c they are not living in the poorhouse that is not a problem...
I totally disagree b/c I see the behavior when in the casinos, track, etc
Its like manic highs and lows
Anyway, I listen to 1010 Wins everyday too, and couldn't tell you any sport stats...except for the ones that I am interested in b/c I follow the team
