what do you do on your first ob visit, what blood tests do they send you to get?
i am a member on liw and on here but not on here often, i just found out i am preg. just wanted to know a few things b4 i announced so i am under a different name for now.. thanks

All I know was it was a LOT. About 13-14 vials of blood...so it was lots and lots of tests.
CBC and other normal tests , HIV, standard pregnancy workup, CFS etc ....

I just got mine done today. It was a lot of vials!! Eat something before!!! They basically are checking the health of mommy to know what they are dealing with.

I had 4 viles taken. HIV, CBC, they check for some antibodies like Measles and some other things. Mine was quick and easy.

This was more like my experience. I don't remember it very clearly (and it was only 8 weeks ago!) which means it wasn't "an event to remember."

If you haven't have a PAP and check-up in the last year - they will do this - which is for STDs as well. You might also have an internal sonogram to get a more precise due date.
Check with your OB if you can eat before the blood test - some want you to fast to check blood sugar.
