Dear Nordstrom,

What is wrong with you people?

DH and I walked into your store. One of your poorly-concealed undercover security people just about pushed me out of his way as he ran between me and my husband. It wasn't until I screamed "next time, I'm going to throw out my elbow and nail you" that he came over and asked if we needed help. This is how polite he was:

GUY: "Oh, I work here (head inside my bag which I did NOT open)...can I help you"

ME: "Yes, we need this sweater in 1 size smaller"

GUY: "THIS IS REALLY OLD, but come with me- I'll find someone to help you. Bob, can you help these two? They have a really old sweater"

Bob: This is really old. I mean...really old. The best I can do is give you a store credit for $43. It's just so old

DH: No, it's not worth it then. I'll let the dog have it.

Re: Dear Nordstrom,

really?

i worked at nordstrom for a summer about 7 years ago and we were told to take back anything a customer brought in, even if it wasnt bought there...

i remember during training we had to watch this video about a man who brought an old car tire to a nordstrom and the store took it and gave him credit for the tire....

Re: Dear Nordstrom,

when u buy something from nordstrom, the cashir puts a sticker on the item that tells the store, if u return it, when/where u bought it and how much u paid for it.

no one ever scanned it, they just looked at it. Is it that obvious on the sticker?

It didn't have a price on it. I'm not familiar with the maker, so I'm not sure what it would be worth.

We were just so aggravated at how snooty they all were that we didn't want to deal with them anymore.

Between the two guys, they said it no less than 3 times- I'm not even kidding.

DH got it yesterday as an XMAS gift, so I have no idea when it was purchased.

He thinks he may be able to shrink it in the dryer and wear it.

Re: Dear Nordstrom,

that's strange
i got a watch from nordstrom for my bday
i had it about 1 week and scratched the crystal -- dh cannot find the receipt

i am in there buying makeup and tell the watch guy about my unhappiness w/ the fact that it was scratched
he told me to bring it back and he''' replace it
so that's what i did the next day i went right in, he exchanged it for me no questions asked - no proof of receipt (which we didn't have), credit card or anything...

yes, it also tells if anyone helped you b/c they work on commission and if u return something, the salesperson loses commission if they're still working there, no matter how much time has passed since u bought it

Wow! Then I would be more mad at the person who gave you the "old" gift!

That happend to me once my girlfriend got my DD an outfit at Childrens Place and I went to return it for another size and the girl told me it was a VERY old outfit, I didn't have a gift recept and I ended up getting a $6.00 credit!Chat Icon

I was VERY upset, not at the store, but my friend!

It wasn't the only item that this person gave, so I'm not too irritated about it.

The guys at the store were unnecessarily obnoxious, though. I think they were trying to embarass us. They just wouldn't stop with the "this is REALLY OLD" bit.

Re: Dear Nordstrom,

I would definitely have gone and complained seeing as Nordstroms is not the place for rude salespeople - if they treated you like that I would have asked for their manager.

It might have been an old sweater but I know a place like nordstroms would probably fire an employee if they knew they treated customers like that- any chance it was bought off a sale rack or possibly from The rack?

They have the same sticker policy that bloomies has - where all you need is that little sticker to tell them the date, place and amount the item was purchased at.

Re: Dear Nordstrom,

I had a similar experience at Saks. Wrote a letter complaining and it got me nowhere.

Sorry that happened to you!
