Rainhandler "gutters" or gutter guards?

I have a 2 story house, and I hate having to go up to the roof a few times a year to clean the gutters. Has anyone successfully used gutter guards? Has anyone used RainHandler http://www.rainhandler.com gutter alternatives?

I tried the really cheap type, basically a heavy plastic mesh that is slightly wider than the gutter, so it bows up a bit. Heavy leaves just pushed and broke the mesh, so it didn't work for very long.
