Re: my wrists are killing me....

How weird! I thought I was the only one who had this problem when DS was a baby! I could hardly move my left hand my wrist hurt so much. The dr said it was the strain of holding the baby.
I used a homeopathic cream on it which helped a lot and tried to stretch it.

The downside is that it was months before it went away completely.

Now that I think back, my wrists did bother me when DS was a baby. He is 22 months now and I can't remember when the pain went away, but I don't have it anymore. Like the pp said, I think it has to do with the way we hold the babies. Feel better! Chat Icon

Re: my wrists are killing me....

i had terrible wrist pain for probably over a year after I had DS...i don't remember exactly when it dissappeared but I did wear a brace on my wrists (really tight) and that would help...then my chiropractor did some adjustments and it went away thank goodness because that stunk!!!

Argh - I was afraid you were going to ask that.Chat Icon I think it was arnica cream but I am double-checking that and will let you know.

It actually worked pretty quickly. I want to say within days. I used it twice a day for a month and did the stretches and felt much better. I also tried alternately the way I was holding DS to lessen the strain on my wrist. And I iced it pretty frequently too.

ETA - it's called Better than Blue cream and you can get it online at Swanson Vitamins

Re: my wrists are killing me....

This happened to me too. I was checked for rheumatoid factor and had an x ray. It was just repetitive strain. I also had carpal tunnel when I was PG so it could have been a remnant of that. I wore a brace for a week or so and it went away

Re: my wrists are killing me....

I had this when DD was around 2 months old and wanted to be held constantly. I held her in the football hold a lot and I found that by night time my wrists were so sore. It did go away though...

Re: my wrists are killing me....

Very common . . . I saw a specialist and was diagnosed with deQuervains tendonitis in my wrist. Two different braces and one cortisone shot later and I got better.

Re: my wrists are killing me....

I still have carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists from my pre-eclampsia (it's been over 4 months!!). I try to remember to wear my braces at night.

Me too! I have been having terrible wrist pain and AWFUL pain in my right thumb. Sometimes it gets stuck and i have to move it with my left hand. The hand specialist recommended cortisone shots, but i am going to hold off for a little while.

I think picking up the baby contributes to it, but I think there must be some other factor involved b/c I don't feel like I was picking DD up too much when I got the pain, and she wasn't that heavy. I hope it goes away for all of us. Chat Icon

I am holding off on the shots b/c I generally don't like medication if it is not absolutely necessary and also I am breastfeeding. I know they say its safe, but I would rather not do it if i don't have to. I am going to try acupuncture first.
