Anyone have a c-section and

their tubes tied as well?

can you tell me your experience or what to expect?

Having talked to my doc/ob I will most def be having a c-section due to twins and for safety of them being born and Im electing that as well as getting my tubes tied.
We are DONE! Both are on the same page with it, my DH and I, not doc..lol
and Im SO sure of it as well.

So TIA for any info.

ETA: This is also my 1st c-sec, I went vaginal with my 1st.

Delivering at Winthrop- doc said it can be done.

Re: Anyone have a c-section and

from what i have read on here - if you have it done at a catholic hospital (the c-section) - they will not do the tubes.

i could be 100% wrong, but i want to say that's what i've seen.

Re: Anyone have a c-section and

I had a c/s with my twins and was didn't have my tubes tied........there is a tiny part of me that says maybe one more down the road.

But....my friend recently had here third daughter and had it done. She delivered at Winthrop and said to her, it was just like her other c/s....she didn't notice any difference in her recovery or anything like that.

Re: Anyone have a c-section and

I had it done at NSUH without any issues. I figured since I was already opened up I might as well do it....

Re: Anyone have a c-section and

Catholic Hospitals will not allow you to have your tubes tied because the Catholic Church does not believe in birth control.

I had my tubes tied at LIJ after my 3rd c-section.

Before you make ANY decisions, do some research on Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome. Its VERY common and a nightmare. If I had known then, when I know now.... I never would have done it. Its been MISERABLE.

No side effects at all.
Didn't prolong my recovery from the c/s.
They did it after DD was delivered...

In a nutshell: VERY irregular AFs (28 days, 37 days, 13 days... never predictable) Extremely HEAVY Afs lasting for more than 8 days. PAINFUL cramps, diminished sex drive, anxiety, weight gain.

Before, I was a 28 day to the SECOND cycle. It used to last 4 or 5 days, was not too bad, not very crampy.

If you do a Google search, there is a TON of information out there. I wish someone had told me to research more before I had it done.

I had this happen to my after DS was born, anytime we do something to our reproductive organs there is a chance of this happening...

Re: Anyone have a c-section and

Deb, I was supposed to but because of my "issue" during the C-section, they decided to skip it. From what I was told, its no biggie and recovery is the same regardless.

Does insurance cover this? We are on the fence. Do you think I'd get a discount since I only have one ovary? Chat Icon

Re: Anyone have a c-section and

I had c/s and my tubes tied after Peyton and my recovery was waaaay better than my 1st c/s, so I would say it did not complicate my recovery at all.
