Back Pain, is this sciatica?
I am in the middle of my 14th week. I started noticing the other day my lower back feeling a little sore and off.
Then after walking outside all day for work and carrying a large work bag my back started to really hurt last night.
This morning- forget it!!! It's so bad/ It is a pain from my lower back into my LEFT GLUTE ( if that makes sense).
It kills when i am laying down, sitting, on the toilet TO GET BACK UP.
IS this Sciatica??? Will it go away on it's own...or could this get worse???
Will getting a massage help it or make it worse?? I am waiting for the Dr's office to Open to call them.

Re: Back Pain, is this sciatica?
It could be sciatica, but most often it's posterior pelvic pain. The pregnancy hormones cause the joints to loosen (to help with spreading the hips for the growing baby). This can cause the sacroiliac joints to ache.
I found that laying on the floor and doing pelvic tilts really helps. You can also purchase a sacroiliac belt to hlp keep the joints in place. Massage and chiropractic care also help.

Re: Back Pain, is this sciatica?
I have sciatica and the pain is a little different. It is all through my lower back, into my a$$ and down my left leg. My leg even feels numb and sometimes its just impossible to walk. Its horrible. I think it is most likely what the Porrruss said above. I unfortunately get that too and it is also a horrible feeling

Agreed - if it's sciatica it will be a sharp pain at the base of your butt, trust me, you'll know it

Re: Back Pain, is this sciatica?
Sciatica goes from your back, down your butt and into your leg. It is from the nerve being pinched, so a massage could help.
I have had pain like you are describing and it usually comes and goes. It was really bad for me last night and then it is gone today.
Feel better!
