Dutch Wonderland and Hershey Park Trip Review
We got home late last night and I wanted to write a review as everything was fresh in my mind. Thanks to everyone who answered my questions.
We stayed at the Best Western Eden Resort in a room that had walk out access to the indoor pool. It was a wonderful room. They had a pillow menu and bath and body works shampoos/soaps. The room we had came with the breakfast buffet. The beds were really comfortable and there was a microwave and refrigerator in the room. The indoor pool was nice - it had a shelf you could sit on in the water and a skylight above. The outside pool had a shelf with bubble jets. There was a nice spray park area and mini golf. The hotel was right off of the highway, but we did not hear any noise. My one drawback to the room was that there was no natural light, but it was a great room and I would stay there again.
We went to Dutch Wonderland (loved it). It was perfect for kids ages 2-7. My 2 1/2 year old was tall enough to go on all of the rides. They have two cute water shows. We did not go into the water park area of the park as it was too cool. That night we ate at the Red Caboose Motel and Restaurant. It was cute. They had an observation tower, farm animals and a swing set. We got to eat in a train car. We saw many Amish people ride by in horse and carriages.
We also went to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. We loved it. They have real trains you can go inside, a huge set of rooms where you can play with trains (thomas, geo trax, lego, steam, and electric (for age 8 and up)). We all loved this museum. I would go back again.
Although we did not go to these attractions they are within walking distance of the above: Strasburg RR, Day Out With Thomas (certain weekends), Choo Choo Barn, Toy Train Museum).
We also went to the outlets and they have a Disney and Janie and Jack Outlet. We ate at the Olive Garden next to the outlets but we all ended up getting ill from their food.
After two fantastic days in Lancaster we drove about 30 minutes to Hershey. We stayed in the Hershey Lodge. The hotel is very spread out. Our room was in the 5th floor of the main building which was nice because we were close to the restaurants, gift shop, lobby, and the shuttle. We were far away from parking and from the pools. The beds were really comfortable. The food was good at the restaurants. One thing I would bring your own soap. Their soap has a hole in the middle of it and it was annoying. We loved the convenience of the shuttles to the park. We never waited more than 5 minutes. The park was great. We had a lot of fun. My kids are almost 5 and 2 1/2. I think this was the earliest I bring young children. We had a great time.
