Christmas card is done! Great deal, w/ pic!
I did the Christmas card today. I wanted to share bc I ended up getting a pretty good deal. I did the Groupon deal for a session at Target. It was $19.99 for a CD with images so I can create my own Christmas card wherever I wanted plus eight free prints of my choosing, they will be ready 12/3. I received the disc right away, when the session was done and I chose pics.
The staff at Target was great - the photog was sweet and got some nice pics and the guy who sat with us to choose the pics we wanted was wonderful.
Then, I went to Costco.com. For fifty prints of floppy photo paper it is about fifteen bucks. I wanted thicker card stock, though. For that - which includes envelopes - it was $37.50 for fifty of them. I thought that was great. It's a pretty card. For the price I paid, I'm very happy overall - I highly recommend this route! Worked out well!!!

Yeah, for the money, I thought it was awesome so I had to share.
Things can get so expensive -- there were people in Target with me spending upwards of $100 on the session and pictures. For us, we don't have the budget for that so this was an economical way to do it but it still came out nice.

They came out amazing - and he is so cute
We bought same groupon but at jcpenny- our photos are horrible and it was a madhouse lol
We took 1 family pic and my son was not smiling in any of them ( he is always a happy baby)
And then 3 other single shots of him which were ok

I do have to admit, I'm really not a "big box store" kind of gal. I prefer little private owned places or smaller shops. But, there really aren't any places like that around anymore -- remember the Picture People? Or places like that? They used to be in the mall near us. Not anymore. I guess it is because a lot of people opt for larger places like Target OR they have private photogs do it - like who did my newborn session. But that is pricey and we are on such a budget this year!
In fact, my second choice after a place like that was Sears and even they stopped doing the pictures -- at least, the location in my mall stopped.
JCP only does them in the Bay Shore location, so I was told, and that's a little far for us.
So, I kind of went with Target by default. I have to say though, they were good. I always worry that you will miss out on that personal service with large stores like this but in this instance, we got lucky as they were good to us... and we went at the end of a long day so that was even more amazing that they were still perky at 6pm!

Aww, that stinks! I noticed that these places get crazy. I think they overbook and they take walk-ins on top of the bookings so it gets nuts!!!
I have to say, I was a nervous wreck that he wouldn't smile or wouldn't cooperate for the camera but he certainly turned it on lol he's a ham! I got lucky this time!!!

JC Penny in Roosevelt field did it- i am actually debating to do another set LOL
But it was a chep groupon during holiday season and i am sure its going to be a madhouse now until after the holidays
Your pics came out great- and i am so glad it worked out well for you.
I am picking out mine as we speak... I have do go w a card for 2 pics
1 for him smiliing and
1 for the family sad face

they came out great! we used Target also and was pleasantly surprised. the girls were so great with our kids. i didn't know about the groupon though and spent $100 (but received a $50 gift card to use next time). it can really add up. the CD alone would have been $150. you got a GREAT deal!!

I see they book sessions at 10 minute intervals... so I'm nervous they won't spend enough time with us to get good pics of our baby.

From my prior experience at Levittown Target, they do go a little over because the timer goes off and they keep going. They are usually aiming for a certain number of pics to get. Some photographers are better at getting the baby to smile. They usually have a second person help with babies.
Sometimes the baby just won't smile i n the short time though...

Yup we did the 19.99 target groupon too and then we also did pics with santa for $31 which gave us 2 4x6s and the image emailed to me plus a $20 gift card to shutterfly. So we paid $40 for 50 cards and got such cute pics. Im very happy with this route this year.

We went to the Target in Setauket.
Be advised, they do run a little over the ten minute time frame because a lot of kids need a little longer to smile or get a good shot.
Also, they ask you to choose two backgrounds so it takes a minute to change up the background.
There was the photog and a helper -- which was great. Also, it was me and my mom in there dancing like idiots to make him smile. I brought Sophie because that ALWAYS makes him giggle and I brought this maraca thing that makes a noise which makes him smile.
We actually did not need over ten minutes because she got quite a few good shots - like, I had to narrow down, because I had quite a few goodies. I was happy! So, yeah he cooperated and it worked out in the ten minutes.
Now, we did have to wait about thirty minutes because the people before us I guess needed a little more time.
So, DH drove Julian in the carseat around the parking lot and he napped lol this was 6:30pm so that's normally his bedtime. Worked out well this way.
If you have older kids or whatever - just keep in mind there might be a wait so bring toys or the parents with older kids had IPADs - that kind of stuff.
