What do you consider the first day of school?
For those of you whose child has an orientation of sorts a few days before school starts: When’s the day that you put on the special first day of school outfit and take the special pictures (and do the signs if you do them) - orientation day or the real first day of school? Just curious!

What do you consider the first day of school?
In our school, orientation is just 45 minutes. The kids come in with parents and meet the teachers, then come in for a "real" day the next day. That is when I take the picture with the sign- the first "real" day.

What do you consider the first day of school?
I would think that most schools have one first day of school, so that would be the day. But, when I was in HS (Catholic), each grade went for one day the week of labor day. Then, the whole school started a regular day on Monday all together. In this case, I would say that the orientation day is the first day of school (even if they then had 3 days off afterwards).

We have orientation on the 4th and school starts on the 5th so the 5th it is.

What do you consider the first day of school?
when my son started K, and had orientation it was only like an hour.... in fact, his TEACHER wasn't even there! LOL i think she was still working her summer job, so she made a little video for the kids to watch. She ended up being the BEST teacher he's had so far, so I don't judge....
ANYWAY so i did the whole "first day" stuff on the actual first day (about a week later)
