Holiday wish list/registry?

A coworker suggested making one for DD, says she's been doing them for her kids and they're great. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I feel like it's kind of tacky but at the same time I'd love if all my friends with kids did this so I wouldn't have to struggle with what to get them. Thoughts?

I make a wish list on amazon for my kids. You can add things from any website. Every year our family asks what to get the kids so it's just easier to have an updated wish list. I tell them not to feel like they have to huy from the wish list but it's filled with stuff the kids have specifially asked for. I isually shop off the wish list myself.

Re: Holiday wish list/registry?

When my kids were very little and wanted certain toys, I put up an amazon wish list so my family could pick and choose. What they did was tell me to get things and they paid me back for them. At this point, my kids are in elementary school and they really just want big ticket items as toys are not as appealing in 5th grade. My third grade child is still into some toys, but for the most part I see them growing up and outgrowing a lot of toys.

Holiday wish list/registry?

We made an Amazon wish list last year because the grandparents specifically asked for a list of ideas. We only share the link with people who specifically ask for it.

Same here. I make an Amazon list and if family ask then I'll share and if not it's still useful just for me. Also, you can add general notes so I put down their clothing sizes and their favorite characters or general ideas.

I tried one year giving people different ideas and it was hard to remember who I told what and some didn't really take my suggestions anyway so there were things I would have bought dd myself but didn't. My family seems to like the wishlist but I think my ILs aren't big online shoppers and don't have prime so that's definitely a factor too.

Same here. I originally made it for my mom and sister since they didn't want to buy repeats of things I had already purchased. My aunt and SIL asked for it so I've sent it to them and will send it to anyone else who asks.

I also like on Amazon that you can list things like "Summer clothes, size 2T" or "Sneakers size 5.5" so they know what size to get.

we do this for ourselves and DD every year through elfster.com... We do secret santa exchange through it with my family, and then we just send the link to Dh's side so they also have ideas from that list. You can mark things as purchased so the purchaser knows not to buy a duplicate item. The purchased items can't been seen by the gift receiver, so it's still a surprise on christmas day

I like them. I also find that most people appreciate them because they never know what to get the kids

Holiday wish list/registry?

I have for both of my kids, and I wish that everyone would have them-kids and adults alike.

My family growing up we always had written lists for kids and adults, but I know not every family is like that.

It just makes things easier-even for my kids bdays I refer people to the Amazon list if people/friends ask what they need/want.

As a gift buyer I appreciate this option so much! I am done Christmas shopping for all my friends children and nieces and nephews because they all have wish lists set up and it just took the guess work and stress out of it.

I don't find it to be rude or distasteful to have a wish list to direct people to when they ask for gift suggestions.

Holiday wish list/registry?

I have an ongoing amazon wishlist for both girls. I hand it out when requested and I use it for gifts too because if dd tells me wants something I throw it on there. I use it for bdays and Christmas. It makes life so much easier.

Re: Holiday wish list/registry?

I make one on amazon just to organize myself but I don’t share it. If someone asks what they want, I suggest a specific item from the list and make a note to myself on it that someone else is getting it, so I don’t get it myself for them.

Re: Holiday wish list/registry?

We have been using the Amazon Wish List for years. It's a godsend. We have a very big family and everyone on both sides buys for the kids. Honestly, it would be a huge headache without the Wist List. I'd be fielding a million calls about what they want, who bought what already, etc. I also never have to deal with duplicates ands returns which I love.

You KNOW people are buying for your kids anyway, there is nothing tacky about giving them some ideas........ They are going to ask for ideas whether you have a Wish List or not. My family LOVES it. They like having ideas and they like that they are getting gifts for the kids that they'll love and use.

I say to go for it!!

I just got an evite for a friend's kid's birthday party and their Amazon wish list was attached. I did a little happy dance and ordered her gift and RSVP'd in a matter of three minutes. It was glorious!
