Short sale lengthy?

Howdy I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with short sales?
I signed the contract for a short sale March 13th, 2017 and todate cannot get any updates from the other side.
My attorney says he doesnt know anything and the sellers attorney is not answering him.
My realtor just keeps telling me we should hear something next week and then the next week she says next week, that has been going on since june. We are now approaching the last week in September. Ive been good to close and my mortgage bank keeps asking if I heard anything about the closing from the other side or my attorney.

Is there anything that I can do? Who should I be demanding answers from? What is my recourse? My attorney seems clueless or nonchalant? and just says "if you wanna ask back for your downpayment money I’ll see if we can get it". My agent just doesn’t seem to know what’s going on

i'm sorry you're frustrating.

i wish i had different news to share, but yes... short sales take a long time.
i used to work for an attorney in NJ and when we'd get short sales, they were physically put toward the back of the filing cabinet because they were files that i wouldn't touch very often.

We closed on a short sale last October. We put the offer in April 1st 2016 and closed the middle of October 2016. My real- estate agent called the other agent weekly. We also put a 3 month date on our contract and then extended every-time time ran up. But that helped keep the sellers agent in contact with us. We always new what part they were on and what they were waiting for. The actual seller was the worst getting papers to her own agent. We raised our lowball offer after we heard what the bank wanted but we still were about 20,000 under what the bank wanted. We got a call in the beginning of september that the bank finally excepted our offer. We closed about 1 month and 1/2 after. For us it was worth hte wait!!

Short sale lengthy?

We made our offer late July and closed mid October. We basically made a ful price offer bc we knew other offers were already close to that. It still took the bank that long to approve it. Things were pretty quick aside from that bc the seller was already gone and had given power of attorney and my parents were my realtors so they were on top of things.

wow. thanks. I guess it's standard then. I'll give it a few more weeks then I'll ask back for my downpayment. It just kinda feels ridiculously long.
