Re: looks like they're here to stay
OMG - I started getting them a month or so ago. UGH!!! My least favorite thing in this world is to be hot and sweaty. Yeah, this is not going to be a fun time!
ETA: I'm 43.

Yep. Welcome to a new chapter in your life.
Had night sweats last night and got my period, which hasn't been around much lately and I can't wait to be done with.

Can I ask how old were you when you got your first hot flash?

Re: looks like they're here to stay
I haven't had daytime flashes yet, I don't remember my mother ever having them. Night sweats come and go, started when I was 45. I'm almost 51 now.

Re: looks like they're here to stay
i'm 44. they started every so often about a year ago.
i don't know my family history. my mom had a total hysterectomy at a very young age and my maternal grandmother can't remember when hers started.

Re: looks like they're here to stay
mine were brought on early (36) due to a hysterectomy. I don't know if there is any science behind this, but I find they bother me more if I am dehydrated, or under physical stress ( like when we had no heat after hurricane Sandy. I was cold all day and then would have hot flashes at night. And then after not having any for a while they came back when I had kidney surgery.
so stay hydrated & avoid surgery! ;) I think other people have had success mannagaing them with acupuncture.

Re: looks like they're here to stay
I just turned 40 and had my first real/natural (I had them plenty while on fertility Meds for years) hot flash 2 weeks ago. I had them a few times leading up to my period and gen once while I had it and again when it ended.
this is gonna suck

I'll be 40 and still on the pill. Maybe I will stay on it forever to avoid these things
