Running into old hair stylist

I used to go to a salon which I loved but it just got to be a little expensive. I started going to a cheaper salon and it's fine. I'm going to run into my old stylist soon since our children are going to be going to school together. Do I offer up any explanation of why I don't go to her anymore? I don't want her to think I was unhappy, it was just bc it was too expensive for me right now.

If she asks, tell her. But I don't. Think she will

Tell her. This way she knows it wasn't her you were unhappy with but rather the prices.

That's what I would do. I'd rather "clear the air" than potentially have her thinking you weren't happy with her service

Re: Running into old hair stylist

I used the same hair stylist for 10 years until a few months ago. I saw her at my best friend's bridal shower and she's doing the hair for all the girls in the bridal party. When I saw her, I explained that it was just too inconvenient for me to continue (I moved last year and she's now 40 mins away). She totally understands and it's not awkward AT ALL!

I always say it before I stop going. always. Whether it is distance, expense or just not happy. To be fair when it came to styling I have said can we switch it up or try this or that, I'd give it a few visits and then just say I'm going to try somewhere new and apologize profusely.

Tell her! You have nothing to hide...it wasn't her work, it was the $. And maybe she does some side work?

I don't think I'd do that. I'm sure she already knows she is more expensive then other salons. However, if pressed, perhaps you can say something about adjusting your budget.
