Speaking of LI water...

Does anyone else notice a chlorine smell to their water? I had filled a bottle of water and left it on my nightstand. The next day when I opened the bottle the smell of chlorine was so strong it was nauseating. The bottle was clean. The water always smells like that regardless of the bottle I use. I'm in south shore Nassau. Anyone else notice this strong odor/stench?

Eta: it was filtered water from the fridge.

At times I have yes. I have heard that when they test the water and find unacceptable levels of bacteria or whatever they up the level of chlorine to kill it off.
There have been times where I have run a bath and it smelled like a swimming pool! Chat Icon

It's not all that often where i live now, but it happened a lot more when I was living in Nassau county. I used to have to have a filter on my shower because the chlorine was KILLING my hair and skin. I would be using Ultra Swim shampoo even though I hadn't been in a pool.

A brita filter will take care of it for your drinking water. Showering is another story- they sell filters for your shower head in Home depot

ETA_ just read that this was filtered water! That's unusual. Is your filter due to be changed? The fridge ones usually last 1 year

No, the filter is fine. It always smells like a swimming pool Chat Icon I notice it more when the water sits in a bottle for a few hours.

Yes, it's heavily chlorinated, especially where I live. We don't drink it often.

No, I've never noticed this. I'm in s. shore nassau, too. We only use filtered water from the fridge. We get our water through American water.

I didn't know it was heavily chlorinated. The only thing I know is that it's a rip off.

So filtered water is heavily chlorinated. Bottled water picks up chemicals from the plastic. Tap water is bad. What are we supposed to drink???

Your filter must be bad. I just saw that part also. I would change it and go from there.

Technically the filter is supposed to remove the chlorine. We drink filtered tap water and it's always fine .
