Can I pack snacks in the carry on? Are there restrictions? For example can I pack pouches? We have a very short layover with no time to stop for food between flights so I want to bring enough to tie them over. I havent flown in forever and never with the kids. Any general tips for this anxious mom?

No idea about pouches since we are past that. But you can pack as much stuff that isn't a liquid or a gel, as you want. Pouches would fall under a liquid, and I'm sure the info is on the TSA site

Bring as much food/snacks as you can carry...I also bring dum dums and a water bottle which help for takeoff and landing...the sucking helps with the ears...an ipad was our savior because it keeps my son entertained for hours and we flew 20 hrs with no major issues

you can bring snacks, pouches, juice boxes, sippy cups, bottles etc. They will do extra screening on the liquids though so be prepared and make sure you have a few extra minutes.
I pack lots of treats (and lollipops as the previous poster mentioned). I also make sure their tablets have a ton of movies on them and I try to pack new games/toys so they are excited for something different (as well as their favorite items)

I can bring filled water bottles for them? My sister was telling me I had bring them empty and buy water inside to fill them.

I definitely took juice for the flight last year. I can't recall if I took pouches through security. I remember I could take things I wouldn't normally be able to if it was "for the baby" (she was 19 months). It had to all get hand checked and swabbed, so leave time for that

We just purchased bottles of water once we made it through security. We packed our own snacks- goldfish, granola bars, bananas, m & m's as a treat. Made sure the Kindle's were fully charged and loaded with games & movies.

They will let you bring water bottles when you have small children - toddlers. I am not sure about bigger kids though. I usually just buy after I get through since I have enough stuff to deal with going through security...

I've gotten regular water bottles thrown out. But I put the kids water/juice/milk in their sippy cups and it's no problem.

I always pack snacks in my carry on and my daughter's Contigo water bottle. I buy bottled water after we pass security and then fill up her bottle. One time I forgot to empty her water bottle before going through security and they tested it, but it wasn't a big deal.

Thanks everyone. I don't mind just getting water inside but I didn't want to pack yogurt pouches for a quick lunch and find out I couldn't bring them.

Re: Flying with kids

My SIL just flew to Texas and they made her throw out all her pouches because she wanted to carry on. They wouldn't allow her to take them on her carry on. Only to check them.
