Favorite local family vacation
We're doing a big surprise Disney trip in September but my girls are so bummed that we aren't going anywhere all summer. I'm looking for something driving distance that is fun for kids. My girls are 7 & 5. No Hershey or dw land. I'm drawing blanks, they love to swim so beach or a hotel with a great pool. Any suggestions?

Wildwood? They have the beach, the boardwalk with all the rides and amusements, ,Cape May is close by with an awesome zoo that is free and all the cool sites in Cape May.
Or you can do an indoor/outdoor water park like Kahlahari or Aquatopia- both have outdoor areas now too

Ocean City MD. It's a 4 hour drive or so but we love it. We usually stay at Francis Scott Key Resort which is great for families.

Maybe take them to Kalahari, or Great wolf for a night or two. The prices are more reasonable now then they are in the winter and they tend to have deals.

I just got back from a week on LBI (Beach Haven). My DS is 5 and he had a blast. There is a water slide/park and a small amusement park along with tons of mini golf places.
The beaches are not crazy crowded and clean. I personally stay away from Wildwood, Ocean City and Seaside because of the Boardwalks.....those areas get too crowded.

Yes when we go to Wildwood we stay in Diamond Beach- next town over, much more residential and quiet. The hotel we stay at has a private beach. If we want to visit the Boardwalk for a day or night we just drive over about 5-10 minutes.
Best of both worlds.

I agree with wildwood or camelback
But if you're going to Disney these can run $$ even for a long weekend
Its healthy for kids to be disappointed once in a while- will help them gain coping skills

We go to Lake Compounce often, we have season passes. I love that it's a short drive from the ferry. We have camped in the Cub Huts at Bear Creek next door, and they are adorable!

Kalahari Crystal Springs minerals resort - I would do one of these two or both. They are both great.
