Infant Seat to 5 PT harness Covertible
At what age did you transition?
My son is 10 months - hes a big boy (23 pounds), but I think he still fits in the infant seat safely. My husband thinks we should convert, but I just dont think we need to yet.
when did you transition?

Re: Infant Seat to 5 PT harness Covertible
We never used an infant seat and went right to a convertible from day 1. We had no need for an infant seat living in the city and rarely driving. There's no difference in safety as long as either car seat option fits your child and is used properly, within the height and weight restrictions. So do whatever is most convenient for you. If you are still taking the infant seat in and out of the car and putting it on the stroller or something, or you see other benefits to continuing its use them it shouldn't be an issue as long as your child isn't outside the max limits for it.

We switched them when they hit the maximum height. You should check what that is bc most kids hit that before they come close to the max weight. You also want them at least an inch from the top of the shell. My kids were 13 months and 18 months.

4-6 months. Kept the 3rd in it the longest, but she's really small and light... so I could carry her comfortably in the car seat.

DD was switched to a convertible (rear-facing) around 7 months. The infant seat was just too heavy to lift and carry with her in it.

How tall is he? We switched at 10 months since he was only an inch below the maximum height.

Thank you all. He is probably nearing the height requirement...I have to double check.
Can anyone recommend their carseat? I have no idea what the most popular is these days.
Thanks!

Re: Infant Seat to 5 PT harness Covertible
We moved them when they were at height capacity. They would never reach the weight capacity. All were over a year. We just didn't take the seat in and out of the car unless they were sleeping

My kids outgrew their infant seats by height way before weight and they're not tall!
Love the graco extend2fit and graco 4ever. They even make one that's a combination of the two.

11 months . I loved the convenience of that infant seat. So easy to just snap in and out....didn't have to wake her if she fell asleep in the car. Loved the ease of the snap n go too. I held on to it for dear life

Re: Infant Seat to 5 PT harness Covertible
I switched at about 8 months- mostly because I was tired of carrying it around and if I was going to have a stationery car seat, might as well upgrade to the convertible. We went from Chicco keyfit to Grace 4ever.
ETA: We were looking at the Extend2fit as well.

I love the britax. I have the marathon . I like the ease to install and the ease of use.
How ever there are so many new cars seats that have come out since I had to buy a convertible that there could be better ones out there.
Just make sure whatever one you pick out fits properly in you car.
This site Car Seat for lIttles is a good reference. They also have a FB group page which can help you out also
