Giving water
My twins are 4 months old. My one twin has barely had a wet diaper since last night we didn't have the central air on last night but DH uncovered it it's on now to keep them cool. Can I give a 4 month old water? I skipped fruits so he would drink his breakfast bottle and he only drank and ounce. He's not lethargic. My doctor isn't in until 11

I don't think I would, especially if he drank some and had some pee. I would think that's enough to be able to wait an hour or two to talk to the ped workout giving water. Maybe try giving some fruit if he won't take any more of his bottle anyway.

Re: Giving water
He might be teething or otherwise just not feeling great. You can give a little water, but I don't think he'd be dehydrated at this point. Has he been crying at all? I took my DD to the ped. around that age when she had an ear infection and was barely nursing and not having as many wet diapers and she cried. He said as long as there are tears, she's fine, and to try not to worry. It doesn't hurt to call though!
If it is teething, you can also try freezing some formula/breast milk and putting it in one of those mesh feeders for him to suck on. It's cooling on his gums and he'll be getting milk in him at the same time.

Barely had a wet diaper? Or hasn't had a wet diaper. If it's barely, I wouldn't worry. Also, you can give a jar of food as there's water in there.

Agree with this.

I'd ask your ped. My ped said she should get a few oz of water if she would be outside in very hot weather.

4 months? I wouldn't give any water or solids. Anything and everything they need is in their formula or bm intake even the liquid daily amount they need to keep everything working in good conditions. What time exactly did he pee last night? But tbh I wouldn't worry about how often he pees, I'd focus more on how many wet diapers he has in a 24 hr period which should be at least 4 or 5.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I didn't give water. He didn't have a wet diaper from 9pm-6am then at 9 when he got up he was dry. He finally had wet diapers and drank his bottles. We skipped the banana totally today to be sure he was drinking enough!

Ita,
Water is actually dangerous at this age. If he isn't drinking because of solids he is not ready for solids.
