Selling items... how to price them???

For those of you that sell items on Craigslist/FB/whatever, how do you know how much to price your items at?

We are looking to purge a whole bunch of stuff. Some of it would likely be easier to sell through one of these channels rather than at a garage sale (larger furniture pieces, etc). I am just struggling with how much to price each item at.

Is there a formula or something so I am not over/under pricing? lol! I would rather err on the side of under pricing, but I just have no idea where to even start! It's pretty obvious I have never really done this before Chat Icon

Selling items... how to price them???

Depends what it is. I just sold a desk I bought for $150 for $65 and a bed frame I bought for $150 for $75 and the frame was over 10 years old. I've never had luck on Craigslist. I usually sell on fb marketplace and the letgo and OfferUp apps. Some stuff you just have to decide how much you really want to get rid of it. I did books and some other stuff for free and bags of clothes for like $20. People are looking for deals. My mantra is if doesn't sell within a week it's priced too high. My desk I had like 10 offers but no one showed so I took it off and reposted a month later and sold it within 24hrs. If you can list some items you have and we can help
With pricing.

Depends how badly you want to get rid of it and how popular and item is.

If the item is popular you could probably price it failry I usually try to do no more than 50% of the price now I sometimes will go over that depending how new the item is.

If you really want to move it though the lower you price it the quicker it will be gone. I struggle with this cause I hate to let go of stuff for so cheap lots of times I hold out for a while but ill be doing a garage sale soon so I will just be letting go of stuff for very little if its not sold by then

I used the LetGo app to sell a lot of stuff my MIL had in her apartment when she passed away last year. Just do a search for the item and you can see what other people are selling it for. I'd say 90% of the time I have posted on LetGo, I've been able to sell the item within a week.

I agree with LetGo. I just sold a small couch for 200.
