New area code coming to NY
332!
I remember the days when it was just 212 for land lines and 917 for mobile.

New area code coming to NY
212 used to be for all 5 boros, not just Manhattan. Then 718 was given to Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. The Bronx stayed 212 a few more years and then also went to 718. When cell phones were invented they added 917 and then all the other area codes. I have a 917 cell number and I'm never getting rid of it. LOL

Same here! The fact that I remember all of this makes me feel old. But I always say my 917 cell number gives me vintage NYer status

Yes, I have a 917 too and I will never give that up! The 646, 347....

I'm old too. I remember when all of Long Island was 516 and not also 631

Omg do you remember that scene in the sex and the city movie when Carrie got her new cell and it wasn't a 917 that would totally be me

Yes! Even though I now live on LI, I feel like the 917 makes me part of NYC!
