Potty training
So as of today we ditched the reg diapers and bought my son pull ups- He is 3, and started to have some interest in the potty
My son def needs to be encouraged or rewarded Looking for ideas, tips etc This maybe a long road ahead of us but needs to be done

Ditch the pull-ups! I definitely think they're confusing and prolong the inevitable.

Re: Potty training
My ds will be 3 next month and just started to pee on the potty. We let him pick out his own potty. We had the ones from dd, but when he saw one at the store and we said we would buy it for him, I think that was a big change. He also likes to be bribed or now after he goes, he wants m&ms. We don't push him and he is still in pull ups, so I don't know when he will go #2. DD we ditched the pull ups right away, but I don't think I can do that with him.

Potty training
We never used pull ups. The daycare lady told me to send him in undies in January and he was more or less potty trained that day. They used stickers. I think they also told him that he could move up to the big kid room. DS was 2 years, 9 months. Tomorrow he turns 3 and he's still not night trained. I have an entire case (over 200) of diapers so once I'm almost done with those, I'll push Night training more.

They really pushed me to potty train. It actually annoyed me at the time, but now I'm glad they did. It was a requirement for him to move up to the preschool room and they needed his spot.

This. Just dive in. We did the 3 day method and wouldn't have done it any other way.

Re: Potty training
We did 3 day method with 2 kids so far at around 2 years old. Worked well. Modified it so that it was just during the day.
One night trained herself before 3 (asked why I put diapers on her at night). The other, we used Wetstop... a nifty alarm someone suggested here. He was trained in less than a week.

Did the same. We had DS in pull-ups for about a week but he used it as a diaper. I put him in undies and he didn't have any accidents.

I used diapers at night with DS as well and always woke up with a diaper full of urine, but one day, I just thought let's see what happens and he's never had an accident. Your son may just be using the diaper at night because he has them on, not because he necessarily needs it.

Re: Potty training
I used a school vacation to potty train DD. I was working from home that week so took full advantage. We bought a potty seat and stool. We took her shopping and she picked them out. I didn't want to use a potty but wanted her on a regular toilet. I bought lots of fun, new underwear. I did a reward chart with stickers. I used m&ms for pee and one twizzler for poop. It was slow going but we got there.
She had a decent amount of pee accidents and still sometimes waits too long to go potty but surprisingly, not one poop accident. I still use a pull up at night, more for my own peace of mind. She wakes up dry like 99% of the time so I will most likely ditch them this summer. Does not cause her confusion either.

What is the 3 day method? I work full time so not sure if it's something I can pull off - unless it's a weeekend

I did it over a long weekend since I work FT as well. Memorial Day weekend is coming up so maybe you can try it then.
Agree with PP ... ditch the pull ups. They're a crutch.
If you FM me your email address I can send you the 3 Day Method.

Potty training
also DS's rewards are not tangible-- he says "wow" and "cool" and expects a high 5 and a "yay you did it!" after going. LOL.

Re: Potty training
I'm going to disagree with the others about the pull ups. With DS2 we tried the 3 day and it didn't work. At the end of 3 days he was still having 6-7 accidents a day. I didn't have the time or energy to deal with that so we put him in pull ups and encouraged him to use the potty as much as possible. The pull ups made it possible for him to go when he wanted b/c he could pull them up and down. Every morning I would ask if he wanted to wear underwear. After about six weeks he said yes one morning and he was trained that day.
Wanted to add that we for a reward we used m&m's. One for pee, two for poop.
