San Diego, CA
We are planning a family vacation to San Diego, CA.
It is our first time in California.
My DH, me, and my DD who will be turning 5 while we are there.
We love food, exploring, living like the locals, family friendly activities, sightseeing, the beach, etc.
I want to go to the San Diego Zoo. That is a must.
What else should we do/Where else should we go?

There is a pass you can buy that includes admission to a few different things. So Cal Pass I think it's called. Includes Legoland, the zoo..Disneyland I believe, not sure what else

There are a lot of things to do in the area. Will you be renting a car? Besides the zoo, there's the Safari Park, which is also good if DC likes animals. You could explore various museums at Balboa Park or just walk around. We had a nice lunch outside at Panama 66 there. Go to La Jolla to see the seals. If you like baseball, check out a Padres game. My kids enjoyed Legoland. We went to Sea World once, but haven't gone back. We loved the farmer's market in San Diego. I think it's only open on Saturdays, but the samples and the food you can buy are all really good. Grab Mexican food in Old Town. If you have a few extra days, you can head to Anaheim and go to Disneyland. The parks are smaller and you probably don't need more than 2-3 days there. DH and I enjoyed Disneyland more than DW. It wasn't humid like DW was in June, it was less crowded, the parks were smaller and the lines were very manageable.
We love San Diego. Enjoy your trip!

We just went in December. DD was only 2 at the time, but there is a ton to do! We did the zoo, safari park, Seaworld, the Birch aquarium in La Jolla and then went to go look at the seals and get lunch. Definitely go to the Corvette Diner. It's a 50s style diner that has a whole game room, your DD will love it. There is also a Children's Museum and Balboa Park. Look up the Go San Diego card.

We just came back & this is all great advice. We loved Disneyland, safari park & La Jolla. We did more local stuff the other day (piers, beach)
