Spinoff to movies: Anyone have kids that have zero interest?
Being snowed in, I'd love to put on a movie to entertain the kids for at least a part of the day. DS will happily sit and watch but DD (who is almost 6) can't sit still for more than 2 minutes. Aside from "not liking" almost all of the 30 or so movies we own, even when she does pick one she's back up and asking me to entertain her after a minute or two. Makes for a LONG day cooped-up in the house! Is this as unusual as it seems? I'm happy that she barely spends any time watching tv but it's hard to constantly provide entertainment for her.

Spinoff to movies: Anyone have kids that have zero interest?
Uggh, my kids would watch ALL day if I let them. When dd2 was getting her molars she was miserable and the only thing that kept her happy was watching trolls. There was one day she literally watched it 4 times!
I try to limit them within reason but honestly my 4yo had learned more from TV than preschool imo. Yesterday we were talking about water freezing and she blurts out how then it takes up more space. I asked where she learned that and she says Nature Cat. She watches plenty of educational stuff so I don't worry too much.

same here!! my son is 6... he watches Youtube Videos of people or companies building robots he's fascinated, and its amazing the stuff he tells me about robots and then says " yeah... it was on my youtube video". (luckily my husband is a mechanical engineer so he can answer most of this questions! HAHA) Screen time isn't all bad!! LOL

DD is the same. Her attention span doesn't allow her to sit through movies. If we go to a movie in the theater she will sit for it- but if it's too long (any more than an hour and 20) she will start getting antsy and distracted and look around, talk to me etc.
At home, I can get about an hour TOPS out of her and she's off to play with something else, changes the channel, grabs her ipad.
She's a lot like me- I can't sit through most movies- I start to get bored, my mind wanders, and I'll start playing on my phone while watching.
I'm really not a movie person- never have been.
And sitting through a kids movie is absolute torture to me.... so we never really sit and watch movies together. I'll put one on for her- and conveniently exit. DH and I have TV time separate from DD.

Yeah I don't limit it at all. I don't see how it's bad. She learns so much from her you tube videos and TV. I never limited TV

My DS plays while he watches. I don't expect him at 5 to sit through a hour and half movie.

My DS could watch TV literally ALL day. He loves it, which is a blessing and curse.

My daughter never sits to watch a movie or a tv show. i must have played 100 things with her already and had her bake cookies and brownies. It's exhausting. I just told her to go play minecraft lol.

My soon to be four year old can only sit for about 30 minutes tops. He has sat the longest watching the Trolls movie.

My son is still young, just about 2, and he'll sit for 30 minutes of Sesame Street but isn't into movies really...Wish he was, I'd love to cuddle up with him on a snow day and watch some Disney.

My 5 1/2 year old might be able to sit long enough to watch a commercial. Movies are generally out of the question. Only time he sits and watches TV is the show he watches at bedtime. But that is because it is our snuggle time.

My son is weird in that he will watch a movie in the theater and be totally fine but he won't watch a move at home ever. I guess he just likes the theater experience more than anything else.
