Help me figure out new furniture
We are planning to move both girls to an upstairs bedroom and I'm confused about what beds to get. It's a cape so the ceiling slants down on one end and it's pretty steep actually, going down to about 3 feet. We'll be putting a bed on each wall so obviously won't push them all the way to that low end. I was thinking of doing day beds since they'll be along the middle of a wall but I'm not sure? Would it look weird to put a more traditional headboard if it's not up against a wall? I'd love to hear any and all ideas!

We have slanted ceilings but to maybe 4 feet. We are able to put a headboard up against the flat part and it looks great. The other bed (same room) is also against the wall, but by a window bank. It took a bit of moving around to see the best configuration (it's a long, narrow room).

Help me figure out new furniture
i would just do a bed on a boxspring and push it against the slanted part of the ceiling.

I'm just afraid we'd have constant bonked heads (myself included).

So I just measured again and it's not even 3ft. There's just no way I would put the bed all the way to the wall which is why I was leaning to a day bed style but I don't know if I'm limiting myself unnecessarily? If I pull them away by about 2 feet will a regular headboard look odd? Also trying to figure out what to do with that space.

Do the beds have to go along that wall? Otherwise, I'd consider building shelves or cabinets for toys and other storage there.

Re: Help me figure out new furniture
Draw out a floor plan on paper. We have our bed a few feet away from the wall in our bedroom (all our bedrooms have slanted ceilings). We have a night table and a lamp in the space. Depends on how big your space is. May really be beneficial to use a store with design services. Sometimes you can find a design student to do this too (FB groups).

Growing up, we had beds with the headboard against the short wall and with the side of the bed against the short wall. I don't know how tall the wall was below the slant, but it was probably 3 or 4 feet.

I don't know why I didn't think of drawing it out. Dh has the software so we'll either do that or just tape off some options on the floor.
Still confused on what to do and what style beds to get. We could do daybeds, I could do two captain style or really anything and put them both along the longest wall. I'm also toying with the idea of regular headboards in either side and using fabric or something to close off that space under the lowest part to make a little fort/reading nook.

Sounds silly... but I never thought of it til my mom gave me the advice when I was figuring out beds. When you see the layouts, you will know what works & what won't.
But if you are buying new furniture, some stores will send a designer to your home. It helped us size out furniture and figure what fits.

Help me figure out new furniture
I grew up in a levitt ranch and had slanted walls with a chimney. We had the head of our bed under the slant. In 20 years, it was never an issue.

I don't think they typically go as low as ours. Two feet is really low!
