Bathroom remodel
We want to redo one of our bathrooms and I'm trying to figure out ballpark cost. I know it depends on the materials we choose but if you did a basic remodel, middle of the road materials/fixtures, not changing layout, what did it run you? Bathroom is 8x5.
I want to get an idea before I start calling places. We're not even positive we're going to do it right now.
Thanks

Re: Bathroom remodel
We are in the middle of this right now, and I would say it's about 10-12k in total.

Re: Bathroom remodel
All i know is that DH remodeled a very tiny bathroom in our bedroom about 2 years back- and he did ALL the work himself and the price of the materials alone (middle of the road, nothing crazy) was about $5k. So add labor into that and yes, you are looking at around $10 to $12 K

Bathroom remodel
We redid 2 bathrooms - DH did all the work. The first one was about $10-$12K for materials (but that did include expanding the size of the bathroom). The second one we left the same layout and used a bit less expensive materials and it was about $8K

Omg. What does a $35k bathroom remodel look like?
I just want to to be less yellow. The toilet, tub, sink, tile. Yellow. All of it.
We're going to sell in a couple years so we'll need to do it eventually and my rationale for doing it now is we might as well enjoy it if we're spending the money anyway.
But for $35k, we and the people who buy our house would have to embrace that mustard catastrophe.

Bathroom remodel
We also paid 25k for a full gut- we moved plumbing and chose expensive tile- if we didn't move stuff and picked mid priced tile I would say $15k. obviously cheaper if you DIY.

No way to DIY, DH is not the handy type of guy.

Id say 10-12k is a good estimate if you arent moving anything and the materials you pick are standard

I have pics in my album of my first one. I had a lot of custom wood work done, tile was pricey, all new plumbing and electrical. I as also had my bathroom waterproofed. Labor is expensive.

Re: Bathroom remodel
We're huge DIY'ers and we're actually in the middle of a bathroom remodel right now, down to the studs. When all is said and done, we will have spent just under $5K, the only thing we paid someone for was to redo the plumbing in the shower wall and set the tub. The rest, is on us.
If you're at all handy I would consider doing it yourselves, it will save you a ton!!! You easily double your costs when you pay someone else to do the work.

Yep. DH did his bathroom and demoed everything down to the studs and ripped out an nasty fiberglass shower enclosure. Broke up all the old floor tile.
He then redid the shower pan so he could lay tile, waterproofed the whole shower area and did a tile floor in there and tiled the walls in there using some glass accent tiles as well. New shower doors New insulation, sheet rock and paint and crown moldings. New vanity with sink and countertop and new medicine cabinet New light fixture. New toilet New mirror All new fixtures in the shower and faucets
All this for around $5K. Labor is insane! He did not have to move any plumbing or electrical though
For our second bathroom we might need to move a drain pipe only because the tub I want has a drain in an odd spot. For that he might hire a plumber- if it turns out to be complicated.

DH did all the work in the bathroom himself, and it cost about $8000.

Bathroom remodel
An average size bathroom with mid range tiles/supplies runs about $10-15K. We recently did 3 of them.

Thanks guys. We're not terribly handy and there is also no way we would ever have the time to do it.

This! We spent $35K on redoing our master bathroom. The cost was mostly due to choosing a special order tile. We also wanted a gray painted (outside) tub so that cost another fortune. Also, a steam bath was a non-negotiable for my husband.

We're currently doing our downstairs bathroom- it's decently small and DH is doing all the work himself except having someone put a new window. It's going to cost us $3k when it's all said and done.

We did ours about a year ago. Same scenario, not moving plumbing, not crazy expensive fixtures... Total gut job - cost us just about $10k.
