Vacation ideas needed
DH and I just started discussing booking a vacation this summer, with his 2 boys - one in college and one older. We really have no ideas, so trying to think of something. Don't really want to do a cruise or the Caribbean. I'm thinking somewhere in the States, can be flying or driving, can be beachy, but needs to have a lot of other things to do - none of them are big fans of the beach. I'm thinking something like Zion or Yellowstone, but I'm sure there are so many other things to see in this Country that I'm not even thinking of, so would love to hear some ideas.
Thanks!

Yellowstone would be great! We have never been, BUT, I was looking at it on the Adventures by Disney site. Now, I would never book their trip because it's $$$$$, but if you look at their site, you can see the itinerary and get ideas for places to stay, sites to see, etc!

Re: Vacation ideas needed
Sedona, hike Grand Canyon, petrified forest is doable
Another nice idea is a drive through different climates: Vegas, Death Valley Desert, Forest to Cali is fun too (you end up in San Francisco... so more of a city thing).
In Utah, Bryce Canyon is spectacular and an easier hike for beginners than Grand Canyon. My Zion is work checking out and you can go to Salt Lake City (they have a great national history museum and the ski resorts around there have adventure parks that may appeal to your kids).
You just have to book far in advance if you stay at national parks...

Re: Vacation ideas needed
What does everyone like to do? Lots of sightseeing? History or more nature?

Re: Vacation ideas needed
How about California? I went with a friend last year and it was beautiful. Great mix between beach and other things to do (we did LA and then drove down to Malibu for a few days).

Vacation ideas needed
3 of the 4 of us have been to variousarts of CA (my best friend lives just north of San Fran so I've been there several times and DH has come with me on some of those trips. Plus DH and his older son did a cross country trip a few years ago and hit many parts of CA.
We've also done Vegas a few times.
As for what everyone likes to do, that's a mix too. DH and his older son are not really into hiking and those type things, but his younger son and I do like that kind of stuff. But we all like site seeing and history type stuff

For history, city culture (arts, dining) you can do Boston, philly or DC.
Charleston is great. Beautiful. Quaint city. History.

We've done Boston and have family near DC, so have been there. We already have a long weekend in Philly planned as another trip.
Would love to do New Orleans, but the younger son is not 21 yet, so I think night life would be limited, right?
Thanks for all of the suggestions - I guess we've been to more places than I thought (first world problems ). Guess I was looking for some "off the beaten path" ideas.

Re: Vacation ideas needed
What about Texas? You can fly into Dallas, drive to Austin (about 3½ hours), check out that City (which is supposed to be really fun), drive to San Antonio and check out the Alamo (about a 1½ hour drive) and River Walk.

Maine? They have a lot of things to see and do in the summer - both beachy and non beachy.

Re: Vacation ideas needed
Start in Denver see some of the sights. The US Mint is there which is pretty cool. Maybe catch a concert at Red Rocks. Goto Boulder. Then drive west and stop at Vail or Aspen. Continue to drive west to Moab and onto Lake Powell in southern Utah and rent a house boat for a couple of days with a jetski and fly out of Utah, Arizona or Las Vegas.
You can make this trip as long or as short as you want.
