We are going to Florida to visit family and are going to do a day at Magic Kingdom. I haven't been in a very long time. My dd is 5 and ds will be 3 by then. What is the "need to do" stuff with kids that age or the stuff we can skip. I just went on the webpage and I'm overwhelmed.

Following. We are going for the 1st time this summer. Dd is 6 and ds will be 3. I have zero desire to go to Disney. But I know my kids want to go. Would live to know what special things we should do to make the trip more memorable for them

Re: Disney world

Go to Magic Kingdom.
Do some rides.
Our favorites are:
Pirates of Carribean
Jungle Cruise
Tiki room (a show)
Small world
Carousel
Peter Pan
Ariel's ride

We add on rides based on wait times.
Meet a character (Mickey or Princess)
See a parade
Eat ice cream on Main Street
Catch dinner later
If your kids have energy, see the fireworks.

We often go for a day while traveling and it's great. Dont let it overwhelm you and don't focus on how "much" you can fit in... it's all about the memory!

This exactly. If you can do a character meal. They are so much fun. Just go and take it all in

Same as nycgirl. Don't focus too much on sticking to a schedule and fitting in a ton. Just go to magic kingdom, walk around the park and take it all in. The must-haves that I would suggest based on your kid's ages are:

chef mickey for breakfast for sure! All the characters go and they will get to take pictures with them as they come around to the tables while you eat breakfast. It is at the contemporary resort and you can make a reservation for a table online now and reserve with a credit card. This is if you will be able to do an additional day outside of magic kingdom of course...

At Magic Kingdon:
-Make sure you are on main st in magic kingdom when they do the Celebrate! parade.
- Make a reservation for lunch or dinner at the Crystal Palace because there are alot of characters there for the kids to meet.
- Buy your disney passes now, and log online to make your Fast Pass selections. You can do a meet and greet with the characters as one of the fast passes!

definitely try to get a reservation for a meal at Chef Mickey's! ( Its at the contemporary resort, which is a short monorail or boat ride or walk from Magic Kingdom.) that has the "Fab Five": Mickey, Pluto, Goofy, Minnie, and Donald... so its kind of a "classic" disney thing Chat Icon if your DD is REALLY into princesses, you could try to get an appointment for her to have a princess makeover at bibbity bobbity boutique... Definitely buy your tickets as soon as you can. you can make Fast Passes for rides 30 days before you leave (if you're staying at a non-Disney hotel). so that way you can at least have a couple rides you won't have to wait in long lines for... Other than that, just don't stress about fitting a ton in. just enjoy the day walking around, taking in everything there is to see in MK. the parades, little shows, etc Chat Icon

We have done the MK during other trips for just a day. Make sure you get there when it opens (actually get in the parking lot an hour before since it takes a while to get to the front gate between the parking lot tram and the boat or monorail to get to the park. Also, buy your tickets in advance so you can make your fast pass reservations online. You can choose 3 of them and you can do it 30 days before when staying off site.

This exactly! We went last summer with two 5.5 year olds and an almost 4 year old and only did magic kingdom. We did 2 day there. We booked our fast passes in advance. However, we got to MK a little before opening and were able to do the things that were booked for later times on our fast passes and rescheduled them. Our top priority was meeting Mickey. My youngest was OBSESSED and that was the first place we went with only a 10 minute wait. Then we got on a couple of rides that were high on our list. Little mermaid (both the ride and the meet and greet), buzz lightyear, aladdin, dumbo, speedway. All done within the first hour. There were one or two more in there too. Then lines started getting longer and we stopped for snacks and water and we mapped out what we wanted to change our fast passes to and what time parades were and other meet and greets and we were able to just walk around and take it all in so nice we had gotten so much in already. It worked out great.

If you can do chef Mikey, that was awesome. It doesn't have to be on a day that you are going to Disney. My three loved it. We also didn't dinner at cinderellas castle. My DD and both my sons loved it! Lunches we packed and had a small cooler with us so we just stopped and ate whenever we wanted. And definitely make sure you can see the celebrate parade. My youngest lost his sh!t and it was the best!
