Babysitter/nanny
We are looking for a babysitter to watch my three kids since I'm going to be working part time. Im having some anxiety about hiring a stranger and daycare isn't an option since I would be working evenings. Can anyone share some tips or advice on how to find a babysitter? I was going to look on care.com but was wondering if there were any other services. We also want to install cameras in each room so that we can check in on things while we are both working. We were looking for the types where you can watch live from your phone. Can anyone recommend a security system? Thanks!

Can't speak about the nanny thing, but we have the arlo cameras and love them. They're wireless so no installation. You download the app on your phone and can view it live.

We found our sitter on a local FB group. She is awesome and a godsend. But it took quite a while to find the right person.

We have had great luck and bad luck with care.com. We've also have had very bad luck with a family friend (when you do that, firing is especially hard). Turns out that you never really know someone.
I highly recommend cameras. An installer can do hidden ones for about $2000 total cost for a typical house. We went with Costco cameras that connected wireless to our computer & I could see live feed on my phone. They were in plain sight but did pick up on a LOT that led me to let go of a nanny. They ran me $100 each or less.

We found ours through a friends nanny. They typically know a lot of other nannies! We adore her but we still look on the camera daily. It keeps my mind at ease! She knows they're there and has no problem with it. GL!

We have a great nanny we found on care.com We received a TON of inquiries to our posting on the site (probably about 70) so it took a lot to weed though all the responses. If you post on care.com, its probably best to be specific about what you are looking for -- I was more general than I should have been so hence extra sorting. THere are a lot of FB groups to find nannies too though, so I would try those -- childcare on long island is one. We have cameras in the baby's bedroom and the main living area only but I can check on them from my phone or online. We use motorola hubble....they seemed to be one of the only ones that have a handheld device and the online access -- so we give the handheld device to the nanny (the handheld device only connects to her room although we could have added the one in the living room as well but that one the nanny doesnt know about so we dont link it to the handheld) and then DH and I can look on our phones or while I'm at work online. It also has a feature where it will record snipbits if there's movement etc. THats a pay feature for like $10 per month. But I like to be able to go back during the day and look at the snipbits too since I cant look at the cameras all day long......
