New tv
Does anyone know if this is true... my bil was telling dh that tvs are cheaper at Walmart because even though they say the same things at Best Buy they are made cheaper. So the same Samsung tv that says HD, 4K etc, is technically cheaply made if it's at Walmart? But all the numbers and specs are the same. It doesn't make sense to me. Has anyone heard this? Or is there a number I should be looking at to compare?

I don't know the answer, but do they have the same model numbers? If so and you prefer Best Buy, you can price match.

Not true. If it's the same model number as the one you're seeing in Best Buy, it's the same TV.

He's kinda right. Each store will have it's own version of the tv with the model numbers being off by a couple of digits. SO they can enforce lowest price guaranteed on models because you can't compare the different stores. The ones that BJ's, walmart etc sell do tend to have less bells and whistles to a comparable model to lets say PC Richards. For me, when I bought tv's for my kitchen and children's rooms. I went with the BJ's model, but for my living room we went to PC Richards. All Samsung because that's what we like.

Thanks everyone. I started comparing the model numbers and it looks like Walmart had the last 4 letters missing from what Best Buy and pc Richard had. Actually pc Richard had a great sale on a samsung one, a better price than the comparable one at Walmart. So we went with them!

Stores will get a variation of perhaps an existing model to make it "appear" different. This is name brand stuff. Sometimes, they take the name brand, strip some things off of it give it a new name all together.

i don't know if it's true, but my downstairs TV is a samsung from target, and my upstairs TV is the same Samsung that I bought from Best Buy, and my Best Buy one looks so much better and has better sound. It's possibly coincidence, but I do think we will buy from Best Buy from here on out.
