Day Camp supplies
Can't believe I am thinking about this already , but we signed up our 5 year old twins for camp today. This will be their first summer at camp.
I know we will have to get them way more swim trunks than they have already (I think they have maybe 2). I'm thinking I need to need to buy a waterproof bag for them to put their bathing suits in after swimming when they change. Any recommendations?
I will put on sunblock in the morning but guess I will send in their backpack as well as I know it will need to be reapplied. Is there anything else I need to know as a camp mom newbie?

Re: Day Camp supplies
Some camps supply the camp bags, camp shirt and wTer bottles. You may want to check first with the camp. They're waterproof bags. I know for my boy's camp I would send them in a bathing suit, one change of dry clothes, two towels and another bathing suit. Some camps prefer brown bag lunches too. I'm sure they will send you a list of stuff to bring. You can also send a plastic bag for them to put their wet bathing suit in but my boys just shoved it in the bag. Lol
Also, some days lunches were provided. They also had snacks and water stations all over. Yes, send in sunscreen. The counselors will apply it throughout the day. I kept it in a ziplock bag with their name on it. Applied it first thing in the morning before camp.
They'll have a blast!! Oh, label EVERYTHING!! Do not buy anything expensive bc stuff will get lost. A sock, bathing suit, etc. It will get lost. Most of their camp stuff is from Target, Walmart, CP, etc. Always get on sale. You'll go through a lot of clothes and laundry. All worth the fun. They'll also be exhausted the end of the day.
ETA - forgot to add water shoes. They wore sneakers all day and crocs for swim

Day Camp supplies
We needed to send 3 swimsuits for the week. They kept them there after we dropped them off Monday's. Friday's they were sent home.
Most camps provide bags. They'll put the wet stuff in a zip loc.
Water shoes, closed toe. Think aquasocks.
Sunblock. Again. Label it and leave it at camp.
It's camps provide towels.
You might want to send in rash guards.
We also set in a full change of clothes, but dd was only 3. Everything must be labeled.

Re: Day Camp supplies
You don't need that much. We had to send DS in his swimsuit. Had to have him bring a towel. All kids wore rashguards. Bathing suit was never really that wet, so we used his backpack to put it in afterwards. Spare sunscreen (they are not the best at applying, so I'd apply the waterproof one).
Lunch was the one thing that was annoying to pack... and snack.

Re: Day Camp supplies
It totally depends on the camp. I just needed to get a bag to send her towel on Wednesday that was when they did water stuff. And optional reusable water bottle to carry around. I sent lunch in lunchbox they were very into reusing and not creating a lot of waste oh and water shoes
