Flowers for an Event
I'm involved in the planning of my shower, which will be just a few days after Valentine's Day. The last time I tried to get event flowers from a local florist immediately following V-Day, they were honestly really ugly, leftover stuff, plain, didn't make sense together.
If I go to an event florist like one would use for a wedding, I'm afraid we'll be paying $$$ for a few simple centerpieces in mason jars.
Any advice?

Flowers for an Event
For my showers and other events I have always gotten flowers from Costco or a supermarket and filled my own vases. It's way more reasonable price-wise, especially if you have time to run out the night before/morning of to buy them and assemble them.

This is what I was thinking. Figure out your containers before hand and just buy what looks good at the supermarket the night before or day of. I painted mason jars and distressed them for my sister's shower and just bought a bunch of roses in different colors and did a different color in each one. For my bridal shower they did supermarket bouquets in watering cans and other vintage looking containers and they looked beautiful.

I've done Costco a few times for mason jar centerpieces, but honestly you might have to visit more than one Costco because I've seen crappy flowers sometimes there too.

You can order bulk flowers from Costco online and have them delivered to you so you don't have to run around buying them. DH & I did it for our engagement party and did our own centerpieces.

For simple arrangements like you are talking about, bring your mason jars to Stop & Shop and have the florist in there do it! We did this a few years ago for a joint B-day party for grandparents and the centerpieces came out beautiful!

My mom actually did very simple arrangements in Mason jars for my baby shower. She ordered the flowers from stop and shop florist area. She provided them the Mason jars and they actually did the arrangement. We used the same flowers for my sister's bridal shower and they came out really nice

Why don't you check with your local vendors on how much centerpieces would even be first. Before running around and getting jars or vases and then running around getting flowers. Then having to do them yourself.
Check around first. You may pleasantly surprised on pricing. Especially this time of year - for event type centerpiece.

ITA, I mentioned Stop & Shop above! I don't think people realize how great their florist and bakery is! At least the one by me, anyway!

We ordered flowers through BJs for my DD's christening. They were delivered 2 days before the event which was recommended to let them "breathe" and they were gorgeous!! We spray painted mason jars gold since the whole party was pink and gold themed.

Flowers for an Event
We did fresh flowers for my daughter’s christening. We wanted a simple pink arrangement and I shopped around from local florists and was surprised as to how $$$ they were. I’m located in Queens so drove to the Flower district 2 days before the party and bought the flowers there myself at a huge discount.
A friend of mine also used Stop & Shop for her party and they were very nice.
