NY state unclaimed property - gift card

I got a gift card (credit from a returned gift) and never used it. I received a letter asking if I need the card reissued and, if I don't respond by a certain date, I'll need to file a claim with NY state.
I'm wondering if I let it go to the state, will I be able to get the full amount in cash? It's for a nice store, but I just haven't needed anything from there.

We have received a few of those letters for gift cards, and were too lazy to fill out the forms and send them back in, then they were turned over to the state. Yes you will get the full amount in cash (well a check). We just applied for it online and a check was mailed very shortly thereafter.
