Main sewer line help!
We had a back up and a company just left and said we should put in a new pipe inside the current pipe. I watched the camera and it did not seem that bad at all (but what do I know!!) They cleaned it out for now but to do a new PVC line in it is like $5K. Anyone do this?? TIA

Lol we had the same issue a few years ago
I freaked out
Hubby rolled his eyes saying no we don't need it
Was the company City wide? I feel like they always tell people they need the extra pipe
Well four years later without the extra expense and we're ok....knock on wood

Get a second opinion. These guys are all crooks. And I agree with the previous poster - citywide is the worst of all. I had two crazy horrible experiences with them and so did my neighbors. I wouldn't trust anything citywide tells u. They are the worst crooks of all and incompetent to boot.

Main sewer line help!
Def get a 2nd opinion. When we first moved into our house we had a backup in our basement and the original plumber said if it happened again we would need to run new pipes. Well it ended up happening again but ithe was because the first plumber didn't know what he was doing. Good thing we called a diff plumber based on a recommendation. It costed us 200 instead of 5000

My parents needed to have it done when they sold their house. We have had several bad clogs where we needed to have someone come and clean it out. We were strongly advised to switch from soft toilet paper to a 1-ply like Scotts. We have, and went from having to clean the line out once a year, to not having a clog in the last 3 years. Don't know if this is your problem at all, but it's worth trying.

We had a backup once in our old apt
Guy said never flush anything. Tissues wipes. Tampons etc
And always only use Scott toilet paper

Thanks!!! I actually got a call last night from another company and he said it is doubtful we need it!
and YES, it was CITYWIDE!!! Terrible from what I am hearing now. Also, they said they would do a PVC pipe within the current pipe and I have since found out that is not legal in Nassau!!!! Bunch of crooks!! We are just gonna see what happens now since it has been cleaned out. I didn't think the pipe looked bad at all!
