Looking for a vacation idea
Looking for short vacation for 2 nights between Christmas and new years. Kalahari is way to expensive.
Kids are 8,7,3, and 1

Maybe a city with a lot of attractions for kids?
Boston or DC come to mind.
Anything that gets you out of the cold is going to be very expensive.
I would look into DC. There are tons of free museums close together. The Natural History museum will have something for all of your ages.

Yes I was going to suggest exactly this. Anything like a Kalahari or a resort is going to be overpriced and insanely expensive that week I'd go with a city and just try to find a good deal on a hotel

Gaylord National Harbor is great, 15 minutes from downtown DC. ICE display is so fun, and there is a Groupon I believe. I also saw that Gaylord is running a hotel special for Cyber Monday. Not sure of the dates. The Capital Wheel is right near the hotel, tons of restaurants, etc. Hotel has a nice indoor pool.

All of DC's museums are free. The zoo is also free and has Zoolights. Gaylord has a beautiful holiday display and light show. You can go there for free even if you don't stay at the actual resort.
