Jeep wrangler?

I need a new car. I love the look but have read they are horrible on gas. I drive a lot for work. Anyone recommend it?

I don't know about the gas mileage, but they are a VERY rough ride. Nothing like an SUV or any other type of vehicle really

I had a Wrangler and would never get one again. The maintenance was horrible - the mechanic said he sees that often.

When did you have it? Recently? I ask because I wonder if maybe it has improved throughout the years.

Re: Jeep wrangler?

My brother and sil had one for a little over a year they had nothing but problems with it. They ended up trading it in. They had a 2014

We have a 2015. We love it, but it's not for everyone. My husband loves to "play" with it. We take the top off all summer, take the doors off on the weekend, and have other accessories that are fun. However. Really enjoying it is a lot of work. The top is not easy to take off and on (both hard and soft are a process) and you need to watch the weather closely.

As others have mentioned it's not a smooth ride and very inexact steering wise. Definitely test drive it. My dad had a wrangler most of my life, so I've driven them since I could drive. The new ones are better but definitely not the same as driving most SUV.

I think if you're not going to do the work to take the top off frequently, there is no reason to own one.

We have one. It's 3 years old and not a single issue. DH drives from farmingdale to lake success daily for work and gas is fine. Like any SUV IMO. It's a truck ride not an SUV.

Re: Jeep wrangler?

My sister had one in the 80s-90s. It was a really cool car, but a total money pit. There was always something wrong with it. Because of that, I'd never get a Jeep.

Re: Jeep wrangler?

I am so surprised to hear of the issues with wranglers. I had one for 10 years & gave it up 6 years ago when my first was born. It was definitely not a luxury car but I never had problems with it. Maybe they are making the new ones like crap? Rough ride but I kind of liked that about it, chilly inside due to little insulation. Mine was cherry red & super cute. I miss it sometimes Chat Icon

Re: Jeep wrangler?

I have one right now as a rental while I wait eons for my Forester to be fixed after some numbskull rear-ended me on the Sunken Meadow Parkway.

It drives like a tank, needs so much gas to accelerate, and burns through a tank at stunning rate. You feel every bump on the road, and the engine is noisy inside the cabin.

I honestly hate it. I wish I had my Suburu back already!
