Gift for in-laws
My in-laws are amazing- they're always around to watch my boys. During the school year they watch the boys for a few hours two days a week and any time we want to go to dinner, go to a party, etc, they're always around to take the boys. We don't pay them, but I'd like to do something for them to show our appreciation. Now, here's there problem- they are tough to buy for!!! They don't go out to eat, they don't really cook (they eat like college kids- cold cuts, pretzels, frozen bagels, canned soup), they don't go shopping, they don't use electricity, have internet, or anything really. My mil reads all day (she gets all her books from the library- it's her one outing a week). My FIL watches tv - not sure what he watches or what he's into besides that. For Christmas, we always wind up getting them a picture of the boys, but who knows what they do with them all because they're certainly not on display. I don't think they'd like anything edible. They are the hardest people EVER to shop for. Oh, and they don't like each other, so nothing couple related.
Any suggestions please???

Get them a gift card to the supermarket they use or pay for the VIP service for peadpod - for free shipping for the year.
You can get a nice book mark (Brighton sells some) or a book light, if the FIL watches movies, get him a box set of some old movies that he would enjoy. Or pay for a Netflix subscription for them.

Re: Gift for in-laws
Do they own a home? My IL's are also impossible to shop for. One year I was desperate for ideas and hired and paid for a landscaper for a year. They had still been cutting their own grass and complained about it every week what a big job it was. They protested at first but then they loved having it done for them. If they already have a landscaper maybe you can pre-pay for a few months.

Book light great suggestion. Does your father in law like coffee? Beer? Alcohol?

Re: Gift for in-laws
I know its more pricey, but maybe a new TV if their TV is old.
Would they like something like an edible arrangement or would his mom ever want to use a kindle?

Great suggestions! My mil is very anti-Kindle. They wouldn't eat anything edible. My father loves going food shopping as it's his only real time out of the house. FIL would love a new TV, but mil would probably kill us if we got him one- she already makes him watch TV with headphones attached so it doesn't disturb her reading... They use instant coffee (yuck!). Love the idea of paying for a landscaper!!! I also love the idea of Netflix (can they use it without internet?) and a nice bookmark! I'm definitely going to pin this thread for Christmas ideas, lol.

What about wireless headphones for your father in law - if you are doing separate gifts? DH used to have the wire one and it was annoying so I bought him wireless (he watches TV too loud and I used to hear it in the bedroom).

Re: Gift for in-laws
Or you can get your mother in law noise cancelling head phones so your father in law could watch the tv without the headphones.
