Fire Island Newbie
A friend and I are planning a day trip to Fire Island next week on Monday. We are in our 30's and just looking for a relaxing time. We want to be in a beach area that's near beach side food/bar areas. Does this exist?
Also about taking the ferry, which LIRR stop and ferry would be closest to this?
We are coming from the city.
TIA!

You might want to go to Ocean Beach. Lots of restaurants and bars. This ferry leaves out of Bay Shore. If you check the website fireislandferry.com it will give you directions via train.

i would definitely suggest ocean beach - but keep in mind, the restaurants/bars/shops are right when you get off the ferry, the beach is about a 5-7 walk away and you can't bring food on the beach. we love it there.
the lirr does getaway passes - includes lirr tickets, cab and ferry ticket (i think) - i would check it out
