Best part of Fire Island for day trip with kids?
Must have a public restroom, be allowed to bring sand toys and a cooler (food/drinks). Advice?

Ocean beach is out since food is not allowed on the beach.

Sailor's Haven for sure!
You take the Sayville Ferry (I would do the 9:30am). It's $8 to park during the week, $15 I believe on Friday - Sunday. Then the cost of the ferry.
You can bring everything...boogie boards, food, coolers, beach carts. The walk to the beach from ferry is on a boardwalk and takes 5 minutes. There are restrooms, showers, and a concession stand (cash only at concession stand).
You can also walk through the Sunken Forest (bring bug spray.
We go here often, and it's the most gorgeous, non-busy place ever! I recommend going during the week for a better experience. Usually like 50 people there. We went on a Friday once and there were probably 150. But still nice!!
