Re: liquor recommendations

See that's hard because it really depends on what they drink.
Some people are Scotch drinkers, some are Whiskey drinkers, etc. It's such a personal taste thing when it comes to hard stuff.
Wine is pretty universal, you know?

I think you'd really have to find out what they drink, but if you can't, I think vodka is a pretty safe bet. Something good like Grey Goose or Ketel One.

I'd say vodka, too. Unless you know they like something sweet- then you could go for like a Godiva liquer or something unusual.

I disagree, if you don't know what they like a very general wine would be better

Riesling, light summer blush etc. If you live near Syosset, go to POST wines, they are amazing at this.

BUT, If you go with a liquor what about a Bailys or a Honey Jack, something flavored??

Re: liquor recommendations

problem is waited to the last minute person is leaving today so i have to run out at lunch.

i guess since i dont drink wine and neither does my DH i feel that wine isnt always the best go to because not everyone drinks wine.

i looked at pics on the page and anytime there is a pic of them with a drink its been a mixed drink so i figured she might like liquor better then wine. i was leaning towards vodka or rum but maybe i will just stick with wine. guess she can always re-gift it if she doesnt like it

Re: liquor recommendations

When I don't know what someone likes, I usually get something native from Long Island. LIV Vodka, or a local wine. At least that way, even if they don't like the drink, it has some connection to them since it's grown/made nearby.

I love LIV Vodka. One of the few vodkas I can actually drink straight.

I think a flavored drink would be fine, I'm not much of a drinker and Honey Jack, from Jack Daniels or an Irish Whisky is good, it will last a long time without spoiling once opened too .

OOPS, I just realized you said Rum, YES, go with it !!!

I honestly would stick with wine if you don't know.

I know so many people who have one type of liquor they just won't drink, including vodka.

http://lispirits.com/product/original-vodka/

80 proof, made in Baiting Hollow. They also make other liquors.

http://lispirits.com/spirits/
Gin, Bourbon, Whiskey, flavored Sorbetta. All locally distilled.

I haven't had the other spirits, but I've always got a bottle of LIV in the house... Chat Icon

or get a gift card

Although I drink liquor, I can think of a bunch that would go unused in my house. I'd have to just put them out at parties and someone might drink them.
I drink tequila and gin primarily. I would not drink whiskey. I have rum and vodka ni the house, but don't really drink it myself, just keep it to mix drinks for others or for a punch at a party sometimes.
basically, I feel wine is more universal if you don't have an inkling of what they drink
