Stopping the Pump - SPINOFF
For those that only nurse in either the morning /night but not during the day and don't pump either, does your DC get a full feeding from those one/two nursing sessions?
I want to stop pumping at work but would like to keep nursing when at home. My supply is already low (it's almost not worth pumping) so I am not sure she will get enough from a nursing session if I do even less..wasn't sure how it worked. If I go down to one nursing session will my milk dry up (i.e.the nursing is then mainly for baby's comfort?) or will my body make milk just for that session as a full feeding? Pls let me know your experiences.

Yes at 18mos my dd was moving to a different daycare classroom and bottles weren't allowed. That is when I stopped pumping and fed her in the am and pm only (and if she woke in the night). I continued that for another year when she was 2.5years old. Not sure how much she got bc I couldn't see but I felt anything was better than nothing.

Nope. My supply was next to nothing. But I nursed my baby every morning and every night because it comforted her and she would at least get something. I tried pumping when she was admitted to the hospital but even with a hospital pump, the stress combined with an already super low supply didn't make it worth it. I was getting about half an ounce total per day.

I haven't pumped during the day since DS was 14 months. He's now 22 months and nurses 2-5 times a day. I have no idea how much he's getting, but he's done in 5 minutes with both sides. He's definitely getting something as I went away without him for the weekend and pumped as a precaution.
