Did anyone have a LO on Neocate?
DD was just switched to Neocate due to blood in her stool after being on Alimentum for 2 weeks. How long did 1 can last? Or how many cans did you get per month? We are confused how many cans we will need to order. I want to get this done ASAP since she is still on the alimentum until we can get this sorted out!

are you getting a prescription for it? my DS was on elecare (think its the same thing just another brand) and when I got it done they asked me how much he was drinking (I lied and said it was little more than what it was ) and they calculated what I would need for each refill of the prescription. you should also be able to figure it out based on what your DD drinks and how much one can makes
ETA : I think I ended up getting 10 cans each refill (I cant remember it was either 10 or 20 but 20 seems really high)

This exactly. For prescription formulas they will usually ask you over the phone how many ounces she drinks in a day and they would send enough cans to cover the month. I agree with PP...tell them slightly more that way you have an extra can on hand I case of emergency since you cant just run to the store and pick up an extra one if you run out.

Agreed, the people on the phone will do the math! But I think a can lasted about 3-4 days in the beginning. Dd ate like a bird though.

Yes, customer service rep asked how many ounces per bottle and how many bottles per day. Figured it that way and then added extra can on top to be sure we didn't run out.
It was delivered to us about 2 weeks before we needed it.

Did anyone have a LO on Neocate?
When my DH called Edgepark yesterday they asked how many cans we need per month and then said they usually do 20 cans per quarter. But that wouldn't be enough! I figured it was up to them to calculate what we need based on what she drinks. Maybe the rep we got on the phone just didn't have a clue!!

My doctor prescribed I think 32oz a day, so that's what we got, she was 6 months I had to stop BF and switch to formula. We got 10 cans a month. I think each can makes 96oz - i could be wrong about all of this, but I know at the very beginning when she was strictly on formula a can lasted about 3 days.
She barely drank any for the first couple days or a week maybe - an ounce or two at a time, like 10oz a day. I was panicky about it, but her ped. assured me that she was not going to starve herself, and she'd realize it was safe for her and drink it - and she did. She definitely had some reflux from it being so thin at first, but that went away on it's own.
Oh and beware of the poop. The smell is horrendous and it can be really dark at first.

Thanks for the heads up!! DD is only 10 weeks so I'm hoping she adjusts well to it. She's been through enough!

After 1-2 weeks on this, and dd1 was a different baby! It was great for her. It's thin and she got reflux so the GI had us add earths best rice. Poops smelled nasty. She never drank a bottle more than 6 oz., even when a year old, I guess because it's nasty tasting! But it worked.
