Wwyd-ped and two sick kids

My older dd has been sick since Saturday. Sore throat, then slight fever, and now belly ache. She hasn't eaten done Saturday night and has been moaning in pain that her belly hurts so I'd like to take her in today. My youngest woke up early this morning with a slight fever and congestion. One day in to being sick I don't see the need for her to be seen but I don't have anyone to watch her until this afternoon. Is it weird to bring her along but not have her looked at? Would you just make an appointment for both? I can wait till the afternoon but I hate seeing dd1 so miserable all day again. Wwyd?

I'd bring them both to see the dr. It's silly not to have your younger one seen when she's already sick IMO, and worse to make the older one wait longer.

I would only make an appt for the older one since the younger isn't that sick yet. She may have something different and I hate to waste a copay. But I would just bring the younger one along so your olde one can be seen sooner.

I would do this. have you looked in older DD throat. my daughter had same symptoms I finally looked in her throat and I knew right away she had strep. strep seems to be going around right now.

Thanks. I just made an appointment for both.

My 1yo had one bite of cereal and threw up. My niece also woke up this morning with a fever and vomiting so seems like they have the same stomach virus after being together Saturday. Obviously the doctor can't do anything for that but I feel weird not having the appointment lol

Her throat's not red at all although she just said it does hurt again. Uggh

I would not feel weird about bringing your younger one and not having an appointment for her. It's just a child care issue.

Make the apt for your older DD but bring both. When you're in the exam room, as the Dr is finishing up with older DD, ask about younger DD symptoms. If the Dr ends up checking her out, make sure you let the receptionist know so she can get your copay. I've done this before, not intentionally, and I'm glad I did because it turned out the kid I was there for had a viral infection and the kid who tagged along who wasn't really very sick at all needed antibiotics. If I hadn't asked, I would've ended up making a second trip as he would've just gotten worse.

I always make appointments for both of them when one is sick and the other one is kind of sick. I don't have a copay, so I don't mind making multiple appointments.
