When you travel with little ones and share a hotel room...
....what time do you go to bed??
We've been lucky that when we travel with DD and DS (5.5 and 2) they've always had a separate bedroom in hotels and vacation rentals. When we drive to Disney next month, however, we're going to stop to sleep somewhere mid-drive and just get a typical hotel room. I know they'll be zonked and will pass right out... my question is...what do we do at that point? Hang out in the bathroom?? Go to bed when they do?
What do you do?

My parents just watched tv when we were younger with the lights off I think DH and I would mostly play on our phones or watch a video on our tablet.

we play on our phones... or read on our Kindles. staying in hotels with DS is pretty much the only time i read LOL he usually passes out after a busy day of whatever we did on vacation.... so sometimes we'll turn the TV on after we're sure he's asleep.

Watch tv, read, dd never zones out early unless we are at home so for us it's usually a non issue.

We watch tv with the lights off, use our ipad/kindle, or have a couple drinks on the balcony (if there is one).

WE usually went to bed because the TV keeps my kids up. It was horrible. I hated laying in bed at 8pm. LOL We are going to Disney this week, but I am sure it will be same thing but given so hot there right now, I am sure we will pass out.

We hang out with the lights out. My ds still uses the pack n play so we put it out if the way, behind a piece of furniture so he can't see us. We also bring his sound machine so he can't hear us either. It works!

I go to sleep. DH will go downstairs to the lobby area and watch tv, read a paper, make some phone calls , etc. he'd come back about an hour later and go to sleep.

When my boys are tired after a long day on vacation they will pass out fine on their own. We put the TV on and they will fall asleep during it. I usually pass out shortly after them and DH will stay op and watch TV, watch a movie or play on his Iphone. We don't go to bed any earlier on vacation. Usually later so they pass out fast.

Usually when on vacation the kids stay up late so we pretty much all go to bed around the same time.

Once DD is out, she can sleep through a bomb blast so we usually just wait for her to pass out and watch TV at a reasonable volume.
ANDDDD that made me think of this!

We sleep in the same room usually but I found a cool trick that you can hang a black sheet from the ceiling using push pins to create a dark space for them. We did this last month when we were away at an AI and it helped.

Watch TV on closed captioning, read, surf the iPad, hang out on the balcony if there is one. Or just go to bed too.
I actually love it bc I get really good, full night sleeps on vacation.

Ha! THat's what I was thinking, I almost force myself to stay up at home after they go to bed so that I can have "me time", maybe giving that up won't be the worst thing for a night

We usually play on our phones, read, or watch tv. If you're worried about the TV being too loud/bright you can watch netflix on your ipad/phone using headphones.
