I'm calling about your computer...

Just got one of those scam calls... About my computer. Call ID comes up all 0's.

Me: hello?

Them: :::huge pause::: yes, I'm calling about your computer. I'm an engineer When was the last time you used it?

Me: I don't have a computer

Them: uhhhhhh you don't have a computer?

Me: Nope, I do not own a computer.

Them: uhhhh ummm very well then, goodbye.


Scammer!!!!! My dad taught me that lol he's like if you ever get that just say you don't have a computer lol he goes, they don't know what to say!! Haha!

i had fun with them the other day. i told them I was glad they called and then repeatedly screamed into the phone Who is Calling? Then yelledGet off the Line repeatedly then whispered yes officer this is the call. click it's rare that I answer a number I don't recognize.

Dh is in IT and has a field day with them. One time he had his office listen in on speaker and the ceo or some high up went in a computer onto a porn website, played a video on high. The guy on the phone had no idea what to do.

Another time, they told him to go to logmein123.com so he pretended to and told them he couldn't get on - he told them he went to logmeinonetwothreedotcom. He just kept playing dumb.

My mom got the call from Microsoft Windows, stating their was a problem with her computer and wanted to allow them access to log in. She fell for it and ended up having to factory re-set her computer.

We got the call from Windows about a month ago. I tried to mess around with them for a couple of minutes, but they hung up.

these people really p!ss me off. my 98 yr old grandfather, who is ultimately fully with it, yet not too technologically savvy, gets calls from these scammers at least once a month and falls for it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I think he might have finally realized after this last time that it's not legit. Until the next time, I guess....

I get those calls on my office phone daily. Such a PITA! And also calls saying "Do you want any prescription drugs?" WTF?

Hanging up works just as well!

My dad loves to play with them.
He will tell them to hold on while he goes and does what they ask...then leaves them there forever.
He will hear them yelling- hello? hello? And he'll yell back- yes just a few seconds more, my computer is really slow. He once kept them on the line for almost an hour.
He has a field day with these aholes

LOL my DH did this too when they called, he was like, what computer? and the guy hung up.

I always answer it.

What are they going to do? Come through the phone and gang rape me??

I mean, IDK, it's usually "you won a free cruise!!" I get a giggle, and hang up.

Either that or someone legit like my mom, boyfriend, sister.

I have caller ID but sometimes I'm in the kitchen, cooking, doing stuff, whatever and it rings and I just pick it up.

this scares me.

SO's mother is 72 and has had brain/mental issues. she believes everyone. we've had to hide her debit card from her and have her bank statements come to me paperless because she's already given her debit card info AND PIN to someone on the phone who told her they were the bank.

I let my 3 year old answer when I don't recognize the number. He loves talking on the phone, so it entertains him and pisses the telemarketers off. He gets so sad when they hang up on him!

Apparently my computer has issues with various drivers today, too....

"What version of Windows does this affect"?
We don't have that information, just your name, phone number, and that there is a problem with some of your drivers.

"But I'm running Linux... .am I still affected"...

I couldn't keep her on the phone much longer after that...

I don't have a computer either - it is scary how they can catch people though

My SIL almost got taken but the only thing that saved her was she legitimately didn't have enough money in the her account to pay them. She called my DH to ask him to help and he immediately knew it was a scam. She's not an idiot, just very gullible. It's scary.
