Refusing bottle/formula?
DD is 10 months and used to down her bottles in minutes with no problem. In the past few days, she's doesn't finish her bottles and is playing with the bottle while drinking (i.e. taking it out of her mouth, twirling it around, throwing it, shaking it, rolling it on the floor, etc.) After all is said and done, she usually ends up drinking 3-4 ounces. I don't know for sure if she's rejecting the bottle or the formula. She does drink water during the day in a sippy cup. Has this happened to anyone around that age? If it's the formula that she isn't a fan of, wondering if I could go to milk before the 1 year mark.

Re: Refusing bottle/formula?
If she's increasing the amount of solids she's eating, then she's not going to want as much formula. That's ok & normal! Also at that age they are so easily distracted that they don't want to stop what they're doing to finish their bottle. My ds (also 10 months old) is breastfed but lately he won't stay on for more than half a minute at a time & I've been leaking like crazy because my body's just not used to it because he used to drink a lot more at once. During the day when I'm at work he doesn't always finish his bottles either. Your dd probably still likes the formula & the bottles just doesn't want/need it as much. That's my guess.

I agree with apparently but you also might want to have the ears checked. Refusing the bottle was often the ONLY sign I had that my boys had an ear infection.

Refusing bottle/formula?
I think its normal....LO is 9 months now and she's been a very distracted nurser and bottle drinker for the past month (ever since her solids intake really became something significant). We still offer 5 oz bottles, but she usually will only drink 3 or 4 oz at a time. She still nurses great right before bed and during her MOTN feed, but during the day? Forget it - she pops off at the slightest noise or sight of something interesting...

Re: Refusing bottle/formula?
With my DS he'd do that when he was teething.
With my DD that's typical all the time. She's 9 months and I'm lucky if I can get her to take a 5oz bottle 3 times a day. She just hates bottles. She'd prefer food.
It's perfectly fine as long as the baby is eating enough calories in the day.

Thank you so much for posting this! Took DD to the pediatrician today because she started to have some yellowish discharge from one of her eyes and sure enough, she has an ear infection in one ear and is on amoxicillin!

So glad our experience helped someone! Hope the antibiotic helps quickly and that she's eating again in no time!

Have you changed the nipple on the bottle? When my DS was not drinking the bottle and was getting distracted I changed the nipple and he began to finish the bottle.

Re: Refusing bottle/formula?
My son was like this, he never really cared for bottles or formula then at 10 months he flat out refused BOTH so I switched him over to all milk and sippy cups. He adjusted fine and was so much happier. Nothing magical happens at age 1, make the switch to milk now if you think it will help.
ETA - Just saw about the ear infection, hope she feels better.
